TPO - Early in the morning of August 8, many people were present at the train stations to get tickets and experience the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station urban railway line after 14 years of waiting. At 10:00 this morning, Hanoi Metro Company had quick information about the number of passengers in the first 2 hours of operation.

Come to "erase" the disappointment

Present from 7am, Ms. Phung Thi Thu (67 years old, Son Tay) and 5 friends moved to Nhon to be the first people to experience the elevated railway.

She said: "Knowing that today is the first day the train runs, we have been excited since last night to try it out. I took the bus from Son Tay to get here at nearly 6 o'clock. This is the first time we have taken a train like this, so we are excited and nervous, it feels very special."

Many people lined up to experience the first day of commercial operation of the metro line.

Meanwhile, many people living near the railway stations are also happy to wait for the line to come into operation after more than a decade.

Ms. Tram Anh (40 years old, Cau Dien) usually travels to Kim Ma every day. With the route along the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station urban railway, Ms. Tram Anh wants to experience it on the first day of operation so that she can change her means of transportation to work in the future.

People enjoy checking in and experiencing the metro line.

"Many times I thought I would be able to take the train but it was delayed so I was a bit disappointed. Now that the train is officially running, I came to erase that feeling. I have waited so long for the project but now that I can travel on such a spacious and modern train, I feel it was worth it. The train runs stably and the reception is polite and reasonable... The route will help me and many people to travel more conveniently, save time and protect the environment," Ms. Tram Anh shared.

Chu Hai Yen, a fourth-year student at the Academy of Journalism and Communication, often travels from school to her home in Ba Vi. Often taking bus routes 92 and 32, Yen often spends a lot of time traveling from Nhon to school due to traffic jams. When she learned about the railway route that takes less than 10 minutes, Yen decided to spend time traveling from the National University station to Nhon to experience it.

Yen said: "I often travel by public transport, so when this railway line is in operation, I will have another means of transportation. From being able to buy automatic tickets, swiping cards at the exit/entry points... young people like me find it very modern, convenient and cost-saving. The train moves quickly and quite smoothly, in the future I will often take the train to go back to my hometown more conveniently. I have been on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong railway line before and each train gives me special experiences.

Experience differently

Sharing about the first day of commercial operation of the metro line, Mr. Vu Hong Truong, General Director of Hanoi Metro said that many people were curious to experience it, so the number of visitors to the stations on the first day was very large, with some people waiting 1-2 hours before the train departed.

"According to updated data, after 1 hour of picking up passengers, by 9am the unit had 2,119 passengers experiencing the experience, by 10am the number of passengers had doubled to 4,670 passengers. Currently, returning passengers spread the word to friends and relatives, so more and more passengers come, and that is our great joy," Mr. Truong shared.

In fact, many people have come to experience and clearly see the difference between the two metro lines currently operating in Hanoi. Specifically, the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro line has many differences compared to the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro line, in addition to the similarities in ticket prices and monthly ticket regulations.

Firstly, both lines have 4 cars. The Cat Linh - Ha Dong Metro has a capacity of 960 passengers, including both seated and standing passengers (the seat ratio is 144/960, accounting for 15%). The Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station line has a capacity of 944 passengers, including both seated and standing passengers (the seat ratio is 94/944, accounting for 10%).

Second, compared to the Cat Linh - Ha Dong train, the Nhon - Hanoi railway station train has a higher speed and acceleration. Because of the higher speed, the departure will be a bit jerky compared to the previous train route.

In addition, in the working process, at the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station line, the train driver must get off and go out once at each stop (both to observe safety and to prevent falling asleep). The Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro train has an anti-falling button and camera so the train driver does not have to leave his position when the train arrives at the station.

“Regarding the automatic ticket collection system, the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line only has one side, but in the Nhon - Hanoi station metro, the ticket sales area is arranged on both sides. In particular, tickets on the Nhon - Hanoi station line have customer identification. This helps limit the situation of lending tickets to others. This is also the difference and advantage of this system,” said the General Director of Hanoi Metro.
