Perspective of QL27C expansion project.

Accordingly, the project starts at Km 0+000, in Dien Thanh commune, Dien Khanh district (intersection with National Highway 1). The end point is at Km 7+930, in Dien Tho commune, Dien Khanh district (intersection of the North-South expressway).

With this plan, the project will build a completed roadbed with a 60m boundary, with a concrete median strip, each side has 2 car lanes and 1 mixed lane. The reserve land fund is planted with grass 9.5m wide, arranged on both sides, the outside along both sides of the road is arranged with 7m wide sidewalks according to the plan.

The project is nearly 8km long, with a design speed of 80km/h, and a total investment of more than 1,200 billion VND, invested from the provincial budget in the period 2024 - 2027. The total land area to be recovered for implementation is more than 38 hectares; it is estimated that nearly 140 households will need to be resettled.

According to Khanh Hoa Department of Transport, currently, the North-South expressway from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang has been invested in and connected, many sections have a 17m wide roadbed with 4 car lanes.

The northern component highways of Nha Trang are also being invested in and will be completed in 2025.

Meanwhile, the existing National Highway 1 has a 20.5m wide roadbed with 4 lanes for motor vehicles. Vo Nguyen Giap Street from Nha Trang City connecting to National Highway 27C has a 46m wide cross-section (in the future, each side will have 5 lanes).

Mr. Nguyen Van Dan, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Transport, said that with the current situation, National Highway 27C from the beginning of the route to the interchange connecting to the North-South Expressway will not ensure the scale to meet the transportation needs and investment for economic development in the future. Therefore, investing in the National Highway 27C expansion project from the beginning of the route to the interchange connecting to the North-South Expressway to help complete the connection of the expressway with National Highway 1, meeting the transportation needs and ensuring fast and convenient traffic is necessary.

According to the reporter's observations on the National Highway 27C section, the traffic density is quite high, mainly passenger vans, container trucks and cars going from Lam Dong to Khanh Hoa and vice versa. Although it has been repaired and maintained, the road surface has 2 lanes for motor vehicles, and is narrow, creating many "bottlenecks" for vehicles from the highway to Nha Trang and up to the Central Highlands.

Mr. Huynh Van Phuong (in Dien Tho commune, Dien Khanh district) works in Nha Trang city and travels on this road every day. He said: "The road is quite narrow, vehicles travel at high speed. Meanwhile, both sides of the road are mostly low-lying fields, making it very worrying to travel on the road."

It is known that National Highway 27C connecting two leading tourist centers, Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa) and Da Lat City (Lam Dong), is being managed by the Vietnam Road Administration (Ministry of Transport). Of which, the section in Khanh Hoa province is more than 65km long.

The route starts from Vo Nguyen Giap Street (at the intersection of Vo Nguyen Giap Street with National Highway 1) and extends to the interchange connecting to the North-South Expressway (Dien Tho Commune, Dien Khanh District) for nearly 8km. The existing road surface is 11m wide, with 0.5m wide dirt shoulders on each side.

Mr. Tran Hoa Nam, Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, said that the project will create a driving force for economic - political - social development for Dien Khanh area. Regarding transportation, it will connect the North - South Expressway with National Highway 1, ensuring convenient connection to the national road network. This is a project that creates a complete traffic network for the area and is the main traffic axis of the area to serve the construction of infrastructure and urban areas along both sides of the route according to the approved plan.

"The completed project will meet transportation needs and ensure fast, continuous, and smooth traffic. From there, we will gradually complete essential traffic infrastructure works in the area according to the approved plan, creating a driving force to attract investment, serving the socio-economic development in Dien Khanh district in particular and Khanh Hoa province in general," said Mr. Nam.
