The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has just issued the 2024-2025 school year time plan framework for preschool education, general education and continuing education. Accordingly, the earliest time to return to school is 1 week before the opening day. For grade 1, the earliest time to return to school is 2 weeks before the opening day. The new school year will start on September 5, 2024.

Localities must finish the first semester before January 18, 2025, complete the program and end the school year before May 31, 2025. Consider recognition of completion of the Primary program and consider recognition of graduation from Secondary School before June 30, 2025.

Localities must complete enrollment for primary classes before July 31, 2025.

The 2025 High School Graduation Exam is scheduled to take place from June 26 to 27. Other national exams are organized according to regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The Ministry of Education and Training stipulates that the school year schedule of localities must ensure 35 weeks of actual study (semester I has 18 weeks, semester II has 17 weeks).

The Chairman of the People's Committee of a province or centrally-run city decides on the school year schedule for preschool education, general education and continuing education in accordance with local realities.

The time for returning to school early and the time for extending the school year shall not exceed 15 days compared to the provisions in Article 1 of this Decision to ensure the implementation and completion of preschool education, general education and continuing education programs in case of natural disasters and epidemics. For special cases arising, the Departments of Education and Training shall report to the Ministry of Education and Training before implementation.

The Director of the Department of Education and Training decides to let students stay home from school in case of extreme weather or natural disasters and arrange make-up classes to ensure teachers have time off during the school year.

The Ministry of Education and Training also requested localities to report on the preparation for the school year and the organization of the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year before September 10, 2024. Summarize the implementation of tasks and key solutions for the 2024-2025 school year and the results of implementing emulation criteria, and propose consideration of rewards for the school year before June 25, 2025.
