On August 8, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a decision on the 2024-2025 school year schedule signed by Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, which specifically stipulates the school return schedule for students from preschool to high school.

Accordingly, for preschools , Ho Chi Minh City does not regulate the time to return to school but regulates the opening time like other levels, September 5.

Semester I of preschool begins from September 5 and ends before May 31, 2025. Semester I of preschool must ensure 18 weeks of actual study. Semester II will start from January 13, 2025 and must ensure 17 weeks of actual study.

At the primary level , the earliest school day for first graders will start on August 19. Grades 2, 3, 4, and 5 will start on August 26 and start on September 5, ending the school year before May 31, 2025.

Semester I at primary level also starts from September 5 and must ensure 18 weeks of actual study. Semester II will start from January 13, 2025 and must ensure 17 weeks of actual study.

Consider completing primary school program before June 30, 2025. Complete enrollment in grade 1 for the 2025-2026 school year before July 31, 2025.

At secondary and continuing education levels, the first day of school starts on August 26, the opening ceremony is on September 5 and the school year ends before May 31, 2025.

Secondary and Continuing Education-Junior Secondary Schools will also start Semester I from September 5 and must ensure 18 weeks of actual study. Semester II will start from January 13, 2025 and must ensure 17 weeks of actual study.

Consider graduating from junior high school before June 30, 2025. Complete enrollment in grade 6 for the 2025-2026 school year before July 31, 2025.

High school and vocational high school levels will also start school from August 26, start school on September 5 and end the school year before May 31, 2025.

High school and vocational education and training will also start Semester I from September 5 and must ensure 18 weeks of actual study. Semester II will start from January 13, 2025 and must ensure 17 weeks of actual study.

Complete enrollment in grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year before July 31, 2025. The 2025 high school graduation exam is expected to take place on June 26 and 27, 2025.

Ho Chi Minh City has long implemented a program for first graders to get acquainted with their new school, new friends, and new teachers since the previous school year. They usually spend about 2 weeks before the start of school for first graders to get acquainted with the schedule, rules, and visit their primary school.
