Tuition fees of provinces and cities have been approved to range from 7,000 to more than 220,000 VND per month.
Most localities divide the tuition fees by level of education, three regions (including urban, rural, mountainous areas) and collect tuition fees based on Decree 81 on public tuition fees. The tuition fee ceiling for preschool is about 50,000-540,000 VND/month, for secondary school is 50,000-650,000 VND/month and for high school is 100,000-650,000 VND/month.
Son La currently has the lowest tuition fees, with preschool fees ranging from 7,000 to 38,000 VND/month; middle school and high school fees ranging from 8,000 to 52,000 VND/month. Next is Dak Nong, with primary school fees ranging from 8,000 to 30,000 VND/month; middle school fees ranging from 10,000 to 35,000 VND/month; and high school fees ranging from 25,000 to 45,000 VND/month.
Bac Giang is currently the locality with the highest tuition fees, with the payment for preschool, middle school, and high school in urban areas reaching 340,000 VND/month.
Da Nang, Hai Phong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau exempt 100% of tuition fees for students, while Vinh Phuc reduces 50% of tuition fees for all levels. Long An reduces 50% of tuition fees for preschools, and exempts tuition fees for middle and high schools.

In addition, the Hanoi People's Council is soliciting comments on the draft Resolution regulating tuition fees for public preschool and general education institutions (PTCL) that cover their regular expenses; high-quality preschool and general education institutions in the area for the 2024-2025 school year.
Accordingly, 24 high-quality, self-financed public schools are expected to charge tuition fees ranging from VND300,000 to VND6,570,000 per month. According to the Government's roadmap, from the 2025-2026 school year, secondary school students nationwide will be exempted from tuition fees.
