In the trend of promoting the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, a delegation of Hai Phong city visited, worked and promoted investment and cooperation in Guangdong province, China from August 4-8.

The delegation of Hai Phong City visited and worked in Guangdong Province, China, led by Le Tien Chau, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Phong City. The delegation also included members of the Standing Committee, leaders of departments, agencies and branches of Hai Phong City and Nguyen Viet Dung, Consul General of Vietnam in Guangzhou.

On August 7, Hai Phong City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau and the working delegation met and held talks with Deputy Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of Shenzhen City Party Committee Meng Fan Li.

On the basis of the bilateral friendly cooperation, the leaders of the two cities agreed to further strengthen friendly exchanges, cooperation, and delegation exchanges at all levels. Thereby, the two sides will coordinate to strengthen practical and effective economic cooperation, promote trade and investment, connect businesses, industry associations, seek partners, projects, etc.; invite partners to participate in exhibitions, trade, and fairs held on both sides; further promote cooperation in the fields of people-to-people exchange, organizations, culture, tourism, education, and human resource training; at the same time, organize short-term training programs for officials and civil servants, share each other's experiences in the fields of Party building, public administration management, etc.

On the same day, in Shenzhen City, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Guangzhou coordinated with the People's Committee of Hai Phong City to organize the Hai Phong City Investment Promotion Conference in China in 2024, attracting a large number of Guangdong Province enterprises to attend and learn about trade and investment opportunities with the port city of Vietnam.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Hai Phong Party Secretary Le Tien Chau emphasized that this is the first time the city has organized an investment promotion conference in China, at a time when the two countries are looking forward to celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025 (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025).

Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau also analyzed and evaluated the potential and strengths of Hai Phong City, and expressed the city's interest and desire in implementing and promoting trade cooperation and attracting investment from enterprises of Guangdong Province and Shenzhen City in priority areas.

Speaking at the conference, Vietnamese Consul General in Guangzhou Nguyen Viet Dung said that the investment promotion conference took place at a meaningful time, a new stage in investment and trade cooperation between Vietnam and China.

Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung emphasized that in recent times, the two countries' senior leaders have regularly visited each other, continuously deepened the comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation, and agreed to jointly build a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

Developing stable, sustainable and long-term Vietnam-China relations is a strategic choice and top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification.

On this occasion, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung also informed the delegates about the strengths of Guangdong and expressed his belief that after this Conference, Chinese enterprises will find partners to cooperate and implement their investment projects in Hai Phong City for business cooperation, making practical contributions to promoting economic, trade and investment relations between Vietnam and China in general and between localities of the two countries in particular.

Within the framework of the Conference, many questions from Chinese enterprises related to policies and incentives in the fields of infrastructure, workers' housing, electricity, water, roads, training, etc. were listened to and satisfactorily answered by Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau. The Conference was a great success, creating opportunities for the authorities and enterprises of both sides to understand each other better.

Previously, on August 5-6, the Hai Phong City delegation had many rich and effective contact and working activities. The delegation worked with the Shenzhen General Chamber of Commerce, the China Special Economic Zone Research Center of Shenzhen University; and met with many large Chinese corporations such as Shenzhen Holdings Investment Group - Investor of Anyang Industrial Park, TCL Group, Autel, TP Link, TP Link, Tongwei, Greater Bay Area Entrepreneurs Alliance (Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macau) and the Hong Kong Business Association in Guangdong.

At the talks, the leaders of the two cities agreed to further strengthen friendly exchanges, cooperation, and delegation exchanges at all levels.

Shenzhen is a prefecture-level city, a megacity, located in the south of Guangdong province, on the east bank of the Pearl River, along the Daya Bay and Dapeng Bay, Lingqing Sea, adjacent to Hong Kong to the south, and Dongguan and Huizhou to the north.

Shenzhen covers a total area of ​​1997.5 km2 with a population (in 2023) of nearly 20 million. Shenzhen was established in 1979 and became China's first Special Economic Zone a year later. From a small, backward border town, Shenzhen has become an international metropolis with global influence in 40 years, leading in high-quality development, known as the Great Bay Area's nuclear engine, China's window for reform and opening up, "China's Silicon Valley", logistics center, international transportation hub, science and technology center, international currency, global central coastal city.

In 2023, the city's GRDP will reach 3,460.64 billion yuan (over 487 billion USD), up 6%. By the end of 2022, the total number of national high-tech enterprises in Shenzhen will reach more than 24,000, accounting for 5.75% of the country, ranking first in China for 20 consecutive years.

Shenzhen Stock Exchange was established in December 1990. Shenzhen Data Exchange started operating in November 2022. Bao'an International Airport was built in 1991, second only to Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Beijing Capital International Airport, and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.
