African swine fever has appeared in a household in Yen Nam village (Xuan Yen commune, Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province). Up to now, local authorities and functional agencies have destroyed dozens of pigs.

On August 12, Mr. Kieu Dinh Cong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Yen Commune (Nghi Xuan District, Ha Tinh Province) said that at the household of Ms. Phan Thi Hong (in Yen Nam village), African swine fever had just caused 2 more pigs to die of the disease and had to be destroyed according to regulations.

To ensure safety in disease prevention, after propaganda, mobilization and with the consent of Ms. Hong's household, on the afternoon of August 12, local authorities and relevant agencies continued to destroy the remaining 18 pigs. Previously, on August 5, African swine fever appeared in Ms. Hong's household, causing 12 pigs to become infected and were destroyed.

In response to the developments of the African swine fever epidemic, Vice Chairman of Nghi Xuan District People's Committee Nguyen Viet Hung signed Decision No. 4123/QD-UBND on declaring an epidemic of African swine fever in Xuan Yen commune. The areas threatened by the epidemic are Xuan Hai, Xuan Thanh communes, Tien Dien town. The buffer zone is Xuan Pho, Co Dam, Xuan Giang, Xuan My communes.

Nghi Xuan District People's Committee assigned the district and local specialized departments, agencies and branches to focus on guiding, urging, directing, inspecting, supervising, seriously, synchronously and drastically implementing measures to prevent, contain and suppress African swine fever in epidemic areas, threatened areas and buffer zones; promptly prevent the disease from spreading widely; guide the dossier to propose support for households whose pigs are destroyed according to regulations...
