More than 2,000 cases handled

According to information at the meeting of Steering Committee 389 of Hanoi City on August 2, in July, the functional forces of the Steering Committee inspected 2,311 cases, handled 2,211 violations, of which 199 cases involved banned goods and smuggled goods, 152 cases involved counterfeit goods and intellectual property violations, and 1,860 cases involved commercial fraud.

The authorities have prosecuted 14 cases, against 27 defendants. The total amount of money collected for the State budget is 276,973 billion VND; tax arrears and recovery is 175,141 billion VND.

During the month, the functional forces in the City's Steering Committee 389 strengthened inspections of production and business of establishments and traders, focusing on smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, and goods violating food safety, achieving many positive results, contributing to stabilizing the city's market, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of manufacturers, legitimate businesses and consumers.

Typically, on July 9, Market Management Team No. 22 (Hanoi Market Management Department) coordinated with the Economic Police Team, Bac Tu Liem District Police to inspect 5 business booths in the area of ​​Nguyen Dinh Tu Street, Xuan Dinh Ward (Bac Tu Liem District) and discovered more than 50,000 products including cosmetics, shampoo, children's toothpaste of brands ACLEAF Repair toner, OHBT, MAMACOS, O-ZONE... manufactured abroad, showing signs of expiration.

In particular, a large amount of O-ZONE brand children's toothpaste and many cosmetics are having their expiration dates removed and new expiration dates printed and stamped.

Chu Xuan Kien, Director of the Hanoi Market Management Department, informed that although the authorities are determined to inspect and control the market, the situation of smuggling and illegal transportation of prohibited goods through Noi Bai International Airport is still potentially complicated.

The Customs force has coordinated with functional forces to continue to detect cases of drug and marijuana transportation from abroad to Vietnam. In the domestic area, the situation of trading in smuggled goods, transporting prohibited goods, goods of unknown origin; manufacturing and trading in counterfeit goods, violations in the e-commerce environment, violations of food safety and fraudulent acts such as erasing expiry dates and extending expiry dates still occurs.

The leader of Hanoi Steering Committee 389 said that in order to control the situation of goods in the area and help stabilize the market, in the coming time, the city's functional forces will carry out a number of key tasks, including:

Continue to uphold the sense of responsibility in performing assigned tasks; thoroughly grasp, strictly and effectively implement the directions of the Government, the Prime Minister, the National Steering Committee 389, the City Party Committee, the City People's Committee, the City Steering Committee 389 on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; deploy plans and measures to fight in accordance with the situation and task requirements;

Regularly and effectively carry out focused inspections and audits; strengthen management and combat against key goods and areas such as smuggled goods, banned goods, counterfeit goods, food safety, e-commerce, and tax fraud;

Strengthening coordination between functional forces in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods according to Decision No. 10/2023/QD-UBND dated June 6, 2023 promulgating the Regulation on responsibilities and coordination between state management agencies in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the city;

The functional forces in the Hanoi Steering Committee 389 strengthen coordination with central and city press agencies to propagate the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws in this work, helping people and production and business enterprises raise awareness, thereby proactively coordinating with enforcement forces to step up the fight against counterfeit and smuggled goods; strengthen coordination with news agencies and newspapers to promote propaganda;

Timely reflect the situation and results of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; publicize the hotline number to receive and handle reports of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods;

Promote signing commitments with production and business establishments to commit to trading goods in accordance with legal regulations.

As the Standing Agency of Hanoi Steering Committee 389, in the coming time, Hanoi Market Management Department will continue to monitor and urge the departments and branches that are members of the City Steering Committee 389 and the Steering Committees 389 of districts, towns and cities to effectively implement plans and directives from superiors in the fight against smuggling, banned goods, counterfeit goods and trade fraud.

At the same time, the unit continues to maintain the approved periodic inspection work; focusing on key inspections of areas managed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, such as: confectionery, alcohol, beer, gasoline, etc.

The Department attaches the responsibility of local market management to civil servants and local market management units, especially the role and personal responsibility of the head of the market management unit managing the area; strengthens coordination with other functional forces, local authorities and other relevant organizations and individuals in the fight against violations of counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin and infringement of intellectual property rights.

Strengthen inspection and examination of public services; clearly define the responsibilities of leaders in each locality and field of responsibility; transfer, propose transfer, and replace heads of agencies and units that do not meet task requirements, show signs of covering up and tolerating smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods; strictly handle violations...
