According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Hanoi is currently the locality with the largest number of schools, with the number of students reaching 2.3 million. To date, the whole city has 2,913 schools, an increase of 39 schools compared to last year.

Last school year, the capital's education sector achieved many impressive results, continuing to lead the country in the quality of mass education and key education, in which the high school graduation exam results ranked 11th, up 5 places compared to last year. Hanoi students continued to lead the country in national and international competitions for excellent students with 184 students winning national awards, 14 students winning awards and medals in international competitions.

The whole sector has widely implemented the movement "Schools join hands to develop - Teachers share responsibility" so that top schools and teachers can support teaching methods for suburban schools and disadvantaged areas; increase exchanges and cooperation with education in many countries around the world such as Singapore, Japan, China, etc. to contribute to improving the quality of education.

Recognizing and appreciating the achievements of the capital's education, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong emphasized: In the 2023-2024 school year, Hanoi has ended the situation of parents lining up overnight to buy admission documents at schools. Schools and teachers between districts have shared and helped each other in terms of expertise to improve the quality of teaching, which is an impressive movement. In addition, Hanoi is also a locality that shares and supports the northern mountainous provinces in teaching, which has great humanitarian significance.

With the position of a locality with a large school scale, the number of students accounting for 1/10 of the whole country, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training requested Hanoi to strengthen management, increase inspection and supervision, not to let "hot" issues occur in enrollment and teaching; improve the quality of staff, and strengthen moral education for students.

Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh also requested the Hanoi education sector to focus on closely following the direction and guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training, the City Party Committee, the People's Council and the City People's Committee to carry out tasks and best prepare for the new school year; continue to have solutions to improve the quality of comprehensive education; step by step build the capital Hanoi into a truly large, typical center of the country in high-quality education and training.
