Located just over 50 km from the center of Hanoi, Ha Nam has an important geographical position, being the gateway for trade from the capital to the southern provinces. After 26 years of re-establishment of the province (1997-2023), from a purely agricultural province with a small area, poor infrastructure, and outdated urban infrastructure, Ha Nam has become a dynamically developing province with fast economic growth. Based on the results achieved, the Ha Nam planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, has determined to build Ha Nam into a smart, modern city; a logistics center for industry, high technology, medicine, health care, education and training, tourism services, and trade of the Red River Delta. To quickly realize that vision, in recent years, Ha Nam has made strong efforts to transform its transport infrastructure - creating a launching pad for a breakthrough in socio-economic development. In particular, the province is urgently completing the Phu Thu intersection - a modern 3-storey traffic project expected to be put into operation in 2025, which will help complete the regional transport system and promote regional economic development. In parallel, the 5th ring road of the capital region is expected to be built before 2027 with a length of 331 km, passing through 8 provinces and cities (of which the section through Ha Nam province is about 35 km long, 6 lanes) creating a strong driving force for socio-economic development, paving the way for the take-off of the heritage land of "Doi mountain Chau river".
