The event was attended by the authors and guests who were managers and experts from the Vietnam Mathematical Society and Hanoi National University.
This is the first Mathematics book written and published in Vietnam by Professor Ngo Bao Chau, with the participation of Dr. Do Viet Cuong. The book is written in Vietnamese, size 16x24, with 588 pages.

This is also the first book marking the collaboration between Professor Ngo Bao Chau, Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics and Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
The book is written with the aim of providing a comprehensive and up-to-date foundation in number theory, serving both undergraduate and graduate students in Mathematics and Mathematics Education, as well as excellent students in mathematics in high schools, and those who love mathematics. The authors have used many classic documents and existing textbooks to build the content, and at the same time supplemented with new and deeper knowledge.

Professor Ngo Bao Chau, Scientific Director of the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, shared that he was very excited not because of the book's publication but because he was waiting for the readers' reactions. "In any case, this is a laborious task. The starting point was just a lecture for students majoring in Mathematics during the Covid-19 pandemic. At that time, I had a training class for excellent students majoring in Mathematics to teach number theory in grades 9, 10, and 11.
Normally, I don't prepare for those lectures because I have given them many times, but because I teach via Zoom, I have written a thin textbook of about a few dozen pages. From that textbook, with the encouragement of some colleagues, I compiled it into a book. At first, it was very sketchy, but it gradually became more and more solid, especially with the support of Mr. Do Viet Cuong, the book was born," said Professor Chau.
Professor Chau said that he spent a lot of time writing and presenting, not wanting to “just talk vaguely” about Mathematics. There were even some knowledge that he had to learn more about. “There are many problems in number theory that I don’t know or know but don’t know clearly, so I have to learn more,” Professor Chau said.
According to Professor Chau, although the process was time-consuming, he was very happy. “I was not excited to see it come out, but excited to see how it would be received. People received it very positively, so for me, it was a great joy,” said Professor Chau.
The book builds a rich system of exercises and solutions to help learners consolidate knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of number theory.
The author hopes that this will be a study and research document that not only helps learners grasp basic and advanced concepts of number theory, but also inspires passion and motivation for further research in mathematics.
Dr. Tran Quoc Binh, Director of Hanoi National University Publishing House, said that the book will be a study and research document to help learners grasp basic and advanced concepts of number theory. He also hopes that the book will inspire passion and motivation for further research in Mathematics.
