Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who is currently the country's defense minister, is visiting Moscow and has met with President Vladimir Putin and his Russian counterpart Andrei Belousov.

According to TASS news agency, on July 31, during talks with President Putin, Mr. Subianto emphasized: "We consider Russia a great friend of our country. I want to continue to maintain such a relationship with your country."
Indonesia is ready to welcome more active participation of Russia in the Southeast Asian country's economy, stressing the desire to develop bilateral relations when he officially takes office.
President-elect Subianto also said he did not rule out the possibility of the Indonesian navy participating in Russia's 2025 Naval Parade, and expressed his intention to invite Moscow to attend the defense exhibition in November this year.
For his part, President Putin called the future leader of Indonesia a friend of Russia, affirming that Moscow is ready to increase the supply of agricultural products to Jakarta as well as implement investment projects in the fields of energy, transportation and infrastructure.
Earlier, Mr. Subianto had a meeting with the host country's Defense Minister Andrei Belousov. Here, Mr. Belousov stated that Moscow considers Jakarta one of its key partners in the Asia-Pacific region.
Stressing that the two countries prioritize joint combat and operational training, especially holding naval exercises, Subianto expressed his expectation that Indonesian military and observers would participate in the exercises on Russian soil.
The Russian Defense Minister expressed confidence that the meeting with his Indonesian counterpart would help strengthen ties between the agencies of the two countries and promote new initiatives and further efforts to develop mutually beneficial cooperation.
For his part, President-elect Subianto declared: "Russia has always helped Indonesia and we will never forget that."
