On August 8, the Hanoi People's Council announced that the Standing Committee of the City People's Council has just issued a Decision to establish a Supervisory Team on planning, land management, and construction order in riverbank areas, outside the Red River and Duong River dykes in the area.

Accordingly, the Hanoi City People's Council will establish two monitoring delegations including representatives of the City People's Council's Committees and a number of experts to implement the above content.

The Hanoi People's Council said that the establishment of the Supervisory Teams aims to review and evaluate the implementation of planning, land management, and construction order in riverbank and outside-dyke areas in the city from January 1, 2021 to June 31, 2024.

The delegations will also supervise dike management, land management, anti-encroachment, and activities outside the dike; review of eligible and suitable wharf areas, licensing of wharfs and waterway management; inspection and handling of violations.

The subjects of monitoring are the People's Committee of Hanoi city and the People's Committees of districts including: Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Hai Ba Trung, Long Bien, Gia Lam, Bac Tu Liem, Tay Ho, Hoang Mai, Thanh Tri, Thuong Tin, Phu Xuyen, Phuc Tho, Dan Phuong, Me Linh, Dong Anh, Ba Vi, Son Tay.

Departments: Transport, Construction, Planning and Investment, Planning and Architecture; Natural Resources and Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development.

The monitoring will be carried out by the Hanoi City People's Council in August and September 2024.

After supervision, the Standing Committee of the City People's Council proposed feasible and effective solutions in planning, management, and investment in construction of riverbank areas, outside the Red River and Duong River dykes in the city.

It is known that for many years, violations in land management and use outside the riverbank have been extremely painful. Hundreds of cases of encroachment construction and illegal land trading have been slowly handled.
