World gold price today dropped sharply
At around 6:00 a.m. on August 6, the world gold price today was trading at 2,408 USD/ounce, down sharply by 36 USD compared to the previous day's opening price of 2,444 USD/ounce.
Gold prices today were caught in a wave of asset sell-offs as some recent pessimistic economic data from the United States raised financial markets concerns about a weakening global economy.
In response to the news, the Japanese, European, and American stock markets fell into chaos. In particular, on Wall Street, the Dow Jones index fell more than 1,000 points, the S&P 500 fell 160 points, and the Nasdaq fell 576 points.
Analysts say financial investors are panicking and have sold their holdings, including gold, to finance margin trading.
Meanwhile, US bonds are in high demand as the 10-year bond yield fell to 3.77%. This means that many people are concentrating their capital on bonds, leaving very little money flowing into precious metals. The world gold price today of course evaporated violently.
In Vietnam, the price of SJC gold on August 5 was kept at 79.8 million VND/tael. The price of gold rings produced by SJC and PNJ companies was sold at 77.55 million VND/tael.
