In the Northern market, the purchase price has not changed compared to last weekend.

Currently, live pigs in Bac Giang and Hung Yen are being purchased at the highest price of 66,000 VND/kg.

Except for Ninh Binh and Lao Cai, which both remained at a low level of 64,000 VND/kg, the remaining provinces and cities remained stable at 65,000 VND/kg.

Today's live pig price in the North is around 64,000 - 66,000 VND/kg.

*Pig price in the Central market

According to records, pork prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions have remained stable across a wide area.

In particular, traders in Binh Dinh continue to buy live pigs at the lowest price of 61,000 VND/kg.

Higher at 62,000 VND/kg is the transaction price recorded in the two provinces of Quang Nam and Khanh Hoa.

The remaining provinces are stable at around 63,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.

Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 61,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.

*Price of live pigs in the Southern market

Live pig trading prices in the Southern region also slowed down following the general market trend.

In detail, the highest price is 65,000 VND/kg, continuing to be recorded in Tay Ninh province.

Except for Bac Lieu province, which is anchored at 62,000 VND/kg, traders in the remaining provinces and cities maintain stable pork transactions at prices ranging from 63,000 - 64,000 VND/kg, depending on the region.

In the Southern region today, the purchase price fluctuates between 62,000 - 65,000 VND/kg.

According to the report of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Lai Chau province, since the beginning of the year, African swine fever (ASF) has occurred in 8 communes and towns in 4 districts and cities in the province. Specifically: Ban Hon and Son Binh communes (Tam Duong district); Phang So Lin, Pa Khoa and Ma Quai (Sin Ho district); Thu Lum and Bum Nua (Muong Te district); Quyet Thang ward (Lai Chau city). The number of pigs that had to be destroyed was 247 with a total weight of more than 9.5 tons.

Mr. Pham Anh Hung, Head of the Provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, said that there is currently no specific medicine to treat ASF. To ensure the safety of the pig herd against the risk of disease recurrence, vaccination is very important.

However, the price of DTHCP vaccine is high, and the pigs must be tested negative for DTHCP before vaccination, which is very costly for farmers. Therefore, up to now, the rate of DTHCO vaccination for pigs in the province has only reached about 15% compared to the total pig herd in the province, currently about 244,000 pigs.
