* Livestock businesses report profits that are several times higher than their initial investment.
Vietnam's pig population is showing signs of recovery due to a strong shift from household farming to semi-industrial production, linked with businesses. However, African Swine Fever (ASF) remains a complex issue in many localities, leading to instability in livestock farming, especially in the household sector.
Against this backdrop, most businesses in the livestock industry recorded growth thanks to the stabilization of live meat prices in the first half of 2024.
Standing out in the overall picture of the livestock industry are the business results of Dabaco and BAF, with triple-digit profit growth in the first half of 2024 thanks to a sharp increase in pork sales volume.
Specifically, in the second quarter of 2024, BAF Vietnam Agriculture Joint Stock Company (HoSE: BAF) recorded net revenue of VND 1,225 billion, a decrease of 23%. However, thanks to a sharp decrease in cost of goods sold of more than 30%, the company's gross profit for the period surged by 89% to VND 174 billion.
After tax, Mr. Truong Sy Ba's business achieved significant profit growth, quadrupling compared to the same period last year, reaching 34 billion VND.
