On the morning of August 2, the opening ceremony of the 1st World Student Festival 2024 took place at the Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Officials, with the participation of experts, scientists, teachers and nearly 200 excellent students from many countries and regions of Vietnam.

Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Pham Duy Trang, Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Chairman of the Central Council of Young Pioneers; Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission; Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Tran Thu Ha, Deputy Secretary, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Student Association.

The festival, with the theme “Youth promotes the pioneering role and volunteering for the community: From local to global”, affirms the pioneering role of youth and students in joining hands to promote positive changes for the development of the community.

The festival also creates an environment for Ho Chi Minh City students and international students to exchange and experience diverse cultures, promote and spread the cultural beauty as well as development achievements of Ho Chi Minh City to international friends.

At the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, on behalf of the city's leaders, sent her best wishes for the festival. According to her, Ho Chi Minh City - a dynamic and developing city, is home to many of the top higher education institutions in Vietnam with about 100 universities, colleges, academies, and junior colleges; where the creativity and aspirations of young people are always encouraged and supported.

The Party Committee and the city government always strive to create conditions for students and young people to maximize their potential and capacity, from promoting volunteer activities. At the same time, participating in solving community problems, supporting learning, scientific research, startups, innovation, taking care of improving physical and mental health...

“HCMC leaders expect that this year’s festival and forum will make a practical contribution to further enhancing exchanges, connections, and promoting mutual understanding between youth and students from many countries and territories with Vietnam in general and HCMC in particular,” emphasized comrade Tran Thi Dieu Thuy.

In her opening speech, comrade Tran Thu Ha said that the festival received the attention of a large number of students from universities, colleges and academies at home and abroad. From nearly 500 papers and research papers by students from 11 countries, the organizing committee selected 177 official delegates, including 79 international students, 7 delegates representing Vietnamese Student Associations abroad, 20 students from provinces and cities in the country and 5 Vietnamese students studying abroad.
