"New clothes" for school and class

In the 2024-2025 school year, Phu Luong District Ethnic Minority Secondary School (Thai Nguyen) has a total of 374 students. Right from the end of the school year, the school has developed a plan to submit to the relevant authorities to renovate and upgrade the dormitory, dining hall, build a food warehouse and other auxiliary works to meet the living and studying needs of students.

In July 2024, from the support fund for ethnic minority and mountainous areas, the school was upgraded and repaired the above items with a total cost of 1.5 billion VND. The project is expected to be completed and put into use in September 2024, with a new, spacious, modern and convenient appearance.

Ms. Do Thi Thu Huong - Principal of Phu Luong District Ethnic Minority Secondary School said that the dormitory and dining hall for students were built and put into use in 2009, but have now deteriorated. The new project will contribute to improving the living, resting and studying activities of students, creating motivation for teachers and students before the new school year.

After nearly 9 months of construction, the 2-storey classroom block of Huong Lien Kindergarten (Huong Khe, Ha Tinh) is completing the final stage. In recent days, parents, staff and teachers have eagerly come to the school to clean up in preparation for the handover and inauguration ceremony in early August.

Ms. Dinh Thi Thanh Hoa - Principal of the school said that from the support fund, in the 2024 - 2025 school year, Huong Lien Kindergarten will build a new 2-storey building worth more than 4 billion VND. In addition, the school will be invested an additional 1.2 billion VND to renovate the boarding cafeteria and the administrative building. "With this investment, the school basically ensures the school's facilities, meeting the goal of completing a national standard school by the end of this year," said Ms. Dinh Thi Thanh Hoa.

The joy of a new school is also present with the staff and teachers of Cam Binh Primary School (Cam Xuyen, Ha Tinh). After much anticipation, the multi-functional building worth 4 billion VND has been constructed. "The project will create conditions for teachers and students to organize physical education and extracurricular activities. Students can develop their talents, strengths, and practice their skills in the spirit of innovation of the 2018 General Education Program", said Mr. Nguyen Trung Yen - Principal of Cam Binh Primary School.

Immediately after the end of the old school year, the Hau Giang Education Department proactively reviewed the facilities and equipment of degraded schools and consulted with all levels and sectors to request investment in upgrading and building new ones. The school only had minor repairs on some items, and the units proactively carried out repairs based on the allocated budget at the beginning of the year...

Rach Goi A Primary School (Chau Thanh A, Hau Giang) is ready to welcome the new school year. The school ensures 1 class/classroom, full functional rooms and organizes 2 teaching sessions/day. Each classroom is equipped with smart TVs with Internet connection to help teachers easily apply lessons according to new textbooks; functional rooms are fully equipped with learning equipment to help students increase practice in connection with reality.

Improve the quality of teaching staff

The 2024-2025 school year is of great significance to the national education sector as the 2018 General Education Program will be applied from grades 1 to 12, creating high consistency and connectivity in the process of developing students' capacity.

Implementing the summer professional training plan, since the end of July, Cam Binh Primary School (Cam Xuyen, Ha Tinh) has organized professional training for 32 school staff and teachers.

“During the training sessions, teachers are taught textbook content, teaching procedures and methods for subjects, especially for grade 1 and grade 2 programs. The blocks assign teachers to develop, prepare lessons, and carefully research the content for presentation.

After each presentation, teachers actively raised concerns and problems in the actual teaching process to discuss and propose solutions and optimal solutions. At present, the facilities, teaching equipment and teaching staff of Krong Bong High School (Dak Lak) are ready for the new school year.

“During the summer, the school focused on training, developing educational plans, subjects and individuals through the professional team leader. Careful, thoughtful and predictive preparation is an important step for the 2024-2025 school year in the Central Highlands region,” informed Mr. Duong Kim Thach - Principal of Krong Bong High School (Dak Lak).

The school plans to gather students on August 6, the focus of the gathering will still be on advising on choosing subjects so that students and their families can clearly see and choose the right learning ability. According to Mr. Thach, this is a special school year when the 2018 General Education Program covers all grades. This year's 12th graders are the first to take the graduation exam under the new program.

In Vi Thuy - a disadvantaged district of Hau Giang province, the Department of Education and Training urgently organized and created conditions for officials to receive training and development in politics, expertise and profession during the summer, contributing to improving the quality of teaching and management.

According to Mr. Phan Trong Nguyen - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Vi Thuy district, the district's education sector focuses on arranging the team of teachers and educational managers in accordance with the actual situation of the locality and the unit; at the same time, advising on recruiting enough teachers in the assigned payroll, and contracting teachers and staff according to regulations.

This has been one of the difficult problems of the education sector of Hau Giang province in recent years. “To attract teachers, the Department of Education and Training has consulted with the Provincial People's Council to issue a Resolution on remuneration and commitments for newly recruited teachers, especially teachers of Information Technology, English, Music and Fine Arts...”, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hau Giang province Nguyen Hoai Thuy Hang shared.

Efforts to ensure attendance

Right at the end of the school year, the Department of Education and Training of Vo Nhai district (Thai Nguyen) directed schools to consult with local authorities and Party committees to do a good job in recruiting students and coordinating to mobilize families to send their children to school at the right age. This school year, the whole district has 11,946 students, of which 1,225 are mobilized to grade 1 and 1,444 are in grade 6, the mobilization rate is 100%.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Ha Tinh Ethnic Minority Secondary and High School (Huong Khe, Ha Tinh) will resume enrollment after a 1-year hiatus. However, the school's enrollment for the new school year is facing many difficulties.

“Currently, the school has about 20 applications for admission to grade 10. The board of directors has sent the list to the Department of Education and Training to approve suitable candidates according to regulations. In addition, this school year, there are no students to enroll in grade 11,” said Vice Principal Dang Ba Hai.

Ha Tinh Ethnic Minority Secondary and High School currently has 20 teachers but no Technology teacher, which creates many obstacles for teachers and students in implementing the educational program.

Despite the difficulties, schools in remote areas still try their best to prepare for the new school year. Since the end of July, staff and teachers of Ha Tinh Ethnic Minority Secondary and High School have focused on cleaning classrooms and preparing as thoroughly as possible.

The work of screening students in all grades is also being vigorously implemented so that after completing enrollment, the school will mobilize difficult cases to attend classes. Currently, in addition to policy support, the school proactively connects with businesses and individuals to support additional gifts at the beginning of the year to encourage students in ethnic minority areas...

“To ensure that 100% of students return to school on the first day of school and the opening ceremony, the school board has assigned teachers to check and contact the families and localities where students live in advance to encourage and remind them to ensure the number of students in the new school year,” said Mr. Dang Ba Hai.
