On the occasion of their 14th anniversary, Trang Pham and 3 close friends decided to take a trip from Hanoi to Phu Yen for 6 days and 5 nights. The four young girls planned and prepared quite early to "not break the deal like every other time" and have a trip that was "both relaxing and economical". Working in the tourism industry and having been to Phu Yen, Trang Pham was trusted by her friends to be the "tour guide".

Move

From Hanoi to Tuy Hoa, the group chose to take the train. They bought tickets 40 days in advance so they got a 30% discount, down to 990,000 VND/person/way. There were 4 people in the group so they could book a 4-berth cabin. The train ride took 23 hours. Trang said that taking the train was an interesting and new experience for the group as they got to see many impressive routes.

Trang and her group of friends enjoyed the experience of taking the train from Hanoi to Tuy Hoa.

On the way back, the group of tourists chose to fly to save time and health. However, due to the small number of flights, the ticket prices were very high. To reduce costs, the group took a car from Tuy Hoa to Phu Cat airport (Binh Dinh), then flew from here to Hanoi. The total cost of transportation to the airport, airfare, and 20kg of checked baggage was 1.7 million VND/person. During their stay in Tuy Hoa, Phu Yen, the group rented motorbikes to easily explore the places. The rental cost was from 120,000 - 150,000 VND/day, depending on the type. "We rented a motorbike from a very enthusiastic couple. They delivered the motorbike to our place, without requiring a deposit. When my motorbike broke down at Mui Dien, 30km from the central area, even though it was midday, they still brought the motorbike to exchange for me," Trang Pham said.

Discovery Schedule

According to Trang's experience, tourists coming to Phu Yen often choose to stay in Tuy Hoa city and plan their travel itinerary along two routes: North Tuy Hoa, South Tuy Hoa. In the North, the group visits Ong Cop wooden bridge, Da Dia reef, Ganh Den lighthouse, Xep beach, Mai Nha islet, An Hai fishing village. In the South, the group visits Mui Dien lighthouse, Mon beach, Tien beach and the most beautiful coastal road in Phu Yen. In the city center, there are also many check-in spots such as Nghinh Phong tower, Hung Vuong bridge, Nhan tower, Hung Vuong bridge sunset viewing beach... The destination that impressed the 4 tourists the most was Mai Nha islet, known as Robinson island of Phu Yen. This islet is an uninhabited island, located in An Hai commune, Tuy An district, with an area of only about 1.2km2.

The wild beauty of Mai Nha Islet.

Tourists go to An Hai wharf, Phuoc Dong village, then take a boat, canoe, or canoe to the island. The canoe ticket price is 500,000 VND/round trip, carrying a maximum of 8-10 passengers. During the tourist season, visitors should book a canoe in advance. "If you have time, you should go to the island early in the morning. There are no shops here, so you can prepare snacks and simple food and ask the people selling drinks on the island to cook for you. The cost is about 50,000 VND/person," Trang said.

The emerald green sea water and white sand beaches are the "specialties" of Mai Nha Island.

The southwest of the island is rocky outcrops and clear blue beaches. Here, visitors can experience kayaking and snorkeling. Mai Nha Islet can be visited during the day or camped overnight, watching the sunrise and sunset at the front and back beaches. Visitors can bring their own tents or rent one for 100,000 - 200,000 VND. Mui Dien Lighthouse is also a favorite destination for Trang and her group of friends. Mui Dien, also known as Dai Lanh Cape, is located in Phuoc Tan village, Hoa Tam commune, Dong Hoa town. This is one of the two places to welcome the first sunrise on the mainland in Vietnam, along with Mui Doi in Khanh Hoa province.

The moment of welcoming the dawn of the tourist group.

"Normally, tourists often wake up early, from 4:30 to 5:00 to go to the lighthouse to watch the sunrise. However, according to my experience, this time you can watch the red sunrise at Bai Tien, and see Mui Dien lighthouse from afar. When the sun is high, I move to the lighthouse. At this time I can admire the clear sea," Trang shared.

To get to Mui Dien lighthouse, visitors buy a ticket for 20,000 VND and walk about 1km more.

The coastal roads of Phu Yen are truly "precious gifts from Mother Nature". Although the weather from 10am to 4pm is very sunny and hot, Trang's group still drove motorbikes to explore the coastal route. The most beautiful section is on Highway 29, starting from the middle of Ca Pass on Highway 1A, running down to Vung Ro Port, passing Mui Dien - Dai Lanh Lighthouse, then following the coast to the North, joining Hung Vuong Avenue.

The coastal road is emerald green.

Looking down from the top of Ca Pass to the east is Vung Ro Bay, located between the arc-shaped mountain range. The bay has a total of 12 small beaches with wild, peaceful scenery for tourists to experience and explore. "The coastal road from Phu Hiep to Dong Hoa is also very beautiful and not many people have introduced it to tourists. There are small, peaceful fishing villages here, which are as beautiful in pictures as the setting of the famous movie Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha", Trang said.

Watching the sunset near Hung Vuong Bridge is also an interesting experience.

Accommodation and food

Trang's group rented a homestay on Le Duan Street, Ward 7, Tuy Hoa City. The room rental fee is 600,000 VND/night/room for 4 people, with a full kitchen, dishes, washing machine, drying area... "Food in Phu Yen is famous for being delicious, cheap, and the people are extremely friendly", Trang said. According to the group of tourists, the dishes to enjoy are rice vermicelli with pig's intestines, wet rice cakes, banh nam, banh xeo, and banh beo. In addition, Phu Yen also has chive rice noodles, chicken rice, oyster porridge, snakehead fish noodles, beef hotpot with vinegar, tuna eyes... Trang Pham shared that Phu Yen is a beautiful destination but very hot and sunny. Tourists should prepare sunscreen and sun protection to avoid sunburn. If going to Mai Nha Islet and An Hai fishing village, tourists should go early in the morning to watch fishermen return from fishing.

The total cost for the Hanoi tourist group's trip was 5 million VND/person. This is considered a very reasonable cost for a comfortable 6-day, 5-night trip.
