Complete site handover in the fourth quarter of 2024
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, General Director of the Southwest Pipeline Operating Company - said that the Block B - O Mon pipeline project is an important part of the Block B gas - power project chain, taking on the role of transporting gas from the Block B mine to power plants.
The project includes a sea pipeline, stations and an onshore pipeline passing through Kien Giang, Ca Mau provinces and Can Tho city, and is being implemented synchronously with the progress of the entire chain.
"In 2024, we completed the selection of contractors for the onshore pipeline EPC package and signed a contract with the PTSC - Lilama 18 joint venture in December 2023.
Regarding site clearance compensation, the policy framework was approved by the Prime Minister in March 2024. The measurement and inventory work has been carried out by localities and basically completed.
Localities are developing and approving compensation, support and resettlement plans, expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2024. Compensation, support and resettlement for households are expected to be completed and the site handed over to the construction contractor in the fourth quarter of 2024 on schedule. degree.
From now until the end of 2024, our main task is to implement the EPC contract for the onshore pipeline. In order to hand over the construction site on schedule, we look forward to receiving support from relevant units in Can Tho city, Kien Giang province, and Ca Mau province," said Mr. Hai.
The Block B gas pipeline project will create thousands of jobs
Mr. Tran Binh Minh, member of the board of members of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, added that the Block B - O Mon gas and power project chain (total investment capital of 12 billion USD) is a system connecting upstream, midstream to downstream, including the Block B gas field development project, the Block B gas pipeline project to transport gas from the field to shore.
The project has four gas power plants O Mon 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Can Tho. This is a series of projects of exceptionally large scale, which the Prime Minister has decided to include in the decision as a key project of the national energy sector.
"We believe that this is a particularly large project, a driving force for the country's growth, ensuring energy security and contributing to the growth of the Southwest region. The project chain not only provides energy for the country but also provides thousands of jobs for Can Tho city, related provinces and regions.
The Block B - O Mon pipeline project (total investment capital of more than 1 billion USD) is extremely important because it connects the gas exploitation stage at the source, the gas consuming power plant at the downstream, if this project is "out of phase", it will affect the entire progress of the project chain", said Mr. Minh.
At the same time, Mr. Minh also thanked the three localities for actively supporting the compensation and site clearance work and thanked the people for their support in the spirit of sharing rice and clothes, willing to give up fields, gardens, and houses for the project to pass.
