On August 5, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province announced that it had issued a decision to allocate land to the Southern Airport Authority (phase 5) to implement the Long Thanh International Airport project (Long Thanh airport) phase 1.

Specifically, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province has decided to hand over more than 97 hectares of land to the Southern Airports Authority to serve phase 1 of the project in Binh Son commune, Long Thanh district.
Through 5 phases, Dong Nai province has handed over an area of about 2,500 hectares of land, accounting for more than half of the planning area of the entire Long Thanh airport project (about 5,000 hectares).
The Long Thanh airport project phase 1 will be implemented on an area of over 2,500 hectares, of which 1,810 hectares will be reserved for aviation infrastructure works, and the remaining 722 hectares will be surplus land reserve area.
Long Thanh Airport is designed to handle 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year. When phase 1 is completed, the airport will have a capacity to serve 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year.
