High-level diplomacy
On January 20, General Secretary To Lam warmly received a high-ranking delegation of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) led by Mr. Ouch Borith, member of the Standing Committee of the CPP Central Committee and First Vice President of the Cambodian Senate, on the occasion of the delegation's visit and work in Vietnam.
Receiving a delegation of overseas Vietnamese attending the Spring Homeland 2025 Program on January 19, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the contributions of overseas Vietnamese to the country's overall achievements and shared with delegates his impressions when meeting overseas Vietnamese during his visit to several countries last year. That same evening, President Luong Cuong attended and delivered a speech at the Spring Homeland 2025 Art Exchange Program. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also met with 100 delegates representing the overseas Vietnamese community attending the program.
On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025), General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong exchanged congratulatory letters and congratulatory messages with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh exchanged congratulatory letters/congratulatory messages with Premier of the State Council of China Li Qiang; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man exchanged congratulatory messages with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji; Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien exchanged congratulatory messages with Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning.
On January 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife Le Thi Bich Tran and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Hanoi for official visits to Poland and the Czech Republic, to attend the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland and to hold bilateral meetings in Switzerland.
Visiting Poland from January 15-18, the Prime Minister attended the official welcoming ceremony at the Prime Minister's Office and held talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk ; met with Polish President Andrzej Duda , Speaker of the Polish House of Representatives Szymon Holowni a, Speaker of the Polish Senate Malgorzata Kidawa-Blonska ; received the Poland-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group ; received Ms. Malgorzata Adamkiewicz - President of Adamed Group , Poland's leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology group; attended and spoke at the Vietnam-Poland Business Forum ; worked at the National Institute for Cyber Security of Poland (NASK) ; delivered an important policy speech at the University of Warsaw , Poland; met with officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Poland ; visited the ASG Trade Center in Warsaw; laid a wreath at the Unknown Soldiers Memorial in Victory Square.

Activities of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs
On January 20, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son chaired the annual meeting of former leaders of the Ministry through the periods ; attended and spoke at the meeting, longevity celebration, and Spring celebration for retired cadres in the year of At Ty 2025 .
The ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat (AMMR), officially launching the ASEAN Year 2025, opened on January 19 in Langkawi, Malaysia. The conference is the first important activity in Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship year, chaired by Malaysian Foreign Minister Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan. The Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son made many important contributions. Within the framework of the conference, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son had a bilateral meeting with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan, leading the foreign affairs of ASEAN countries, to strengthen partnerships, promote cooperation in many fields and discuss strategic issues in the region.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 96/QD-TTg to establish the Organizing Committee for the 4th Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals (P4G) Summit in 2025. According to the decision, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son is the Head of the Organizing Committee.
Bilateral diplomacy
On January 18, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu gave an interview on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China relations (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025).
At the reception to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations on January 17, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Ha Vi emphasized that China wishes to work with Vietnam to create achievements on the path of modernization with each country's own identity, help each other, constantly strengthen the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future, and promote high-level humanities exchanges.
On the occasion of co-chairing the first Vietnam-China Deputy Foreign Minister-level Strategic Consultation on January 14 in Beijing, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu visited Politburo member, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi .
On January 17, in Hanoi, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Tripodi co-chaired the 6th Political Consultation at the Deputy Foreign Minister level to discuss bilateral cooperation and directions for promoting the Vietnam-Italy Strategic Partnership in the coming time.
On the occasion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife joining the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation to attend the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos and working bilaterally in Switzerland at the invitation of WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab, Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam Thomas Gass had an interview with The World and Vietnam Newspaper . Ambassador, Head of the Vietnamese Permanent Mission in Geneva (Switzerland) Mai Phan Dung highlighted Vietnam's message ahead of WEF Davos.
Within the framework of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Poland, on January 16, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang and Polish Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries.
On January 16, in San Francisco, the United States, the Consulate General of Vietnam coordinated with the Southeast Asian Institute for Finance, Investment and Trade (SEAFIT) and Vietnam Airlines to organize a special event called “Introducing Vietnamese Heritage: Silk, Ao Dai and Handicraft Products” . The event is an outstanding cultural activity, providing an opportunity to deeply introduce the quintessence of Vietnam’s heritage and traditional cultural values to international friends.
On the occasion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to the Czech Republic, Czech Ambassador to Vietnam Hynek Kmonicek shared his expectations for this special event with The Gioi and Viet Nam Newspaper. Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam commented that the visit will open a new chapter, bringing the Vietnam-Czech Republic relationship to a new level of depth, substance and effectiveness.
On the occasion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Poland, Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland Ha Hoang Hai emphasized that the visit demonstrates Vietnam's respect for its long-standing friendship with traditional friends in Central and Eastern Europe, including Poland. Polish Ambassador to Vietnam Joanna Skoczek shared the significance and expectations of the visit as well as prospects for bilateral cooperation in the coming time.
Mr. Jonathan Turley, Deputy Director of the Joint Trafficking in Persons (J/TIP) Office of the US Department of State, visited and worked in Hanoi from January 13-14. During the visit, on January 14, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a roundtable discussion between J/TIP and Vietnamese authorities.
Multilateral diplomacy
Receiving Ms. Caroline St-Hilaire, General Director of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) on January 20, Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet affirmed OIF's priorities on enhancing economic cooperation, promoting digital transformation, promoting the role of women and youth, responding to climate change, and promoting sustainable tourism in line with Vietnam's socio-economic development priorities.
Attending the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) on January 18 to review preparations for the AMMR on January 19, Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of ASEAN SOM Vietnam Do Hung Viet emphasized that 2025 is an important year in the history of ASEAN cooperation and development. Therefore, in parallel with promoting cooperation efforts, ASEAN also needs to focus on communication and promotion to people, businesses and partners.
After the successful ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat held in Langkawi, Malaysia on January 19 under the chairmanship of Malaysia, Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet gave an interview to the press .
With the theme “Safe, Innovative, Inclusive: Shaping ASEAN’s Digital Future”, from January 13-17, the 5th ASEAN Digital Ministerial Meeting and related conferences took place in Bangkok, Thailand.
On January 17, the first consultation session on the establishment of an independent International Scientific Council and a Global Forum on Artificial Intelligence (AI) was held at the UN headquarters under the chairmanship of two co-coordinators, the Ambassadors and Heads of the Delegations of Spain and Costa Rica to the UN. Ambassador Nguyen Hoang Nguyen, Deputy Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the UN, attended and spoke at the meeting.
On January 15, the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly held a plenary session to hear and discuss the priorities of UN Secretary-General António Guterres in 2025. Speaking at the session, Ambassador, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that Vietnam welcomes the adoption of the document for the future and pledges to promote the effective implementation of this agreement to ensure a good and sustainable future for all people.
On the same day, speaking at the policy dialogue session with the theme "Repositioning development in the Asia-Pacific region: Promoting transformation and inclusive development" of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that he will continue to closely coordinate with UNDP in implementing development programs and projects in the coming time.
On January 14, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang met with Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix, UN Deputy Secretary-General, to discuss cooperation between Vietnam and the UN in the field of peacekeeping.

On January 17, answering a reporter's question, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized that Vietnam welcomes the United States' removal of Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism and a number of steps towards easing the embargo against Cuba.
Other activities
On January 16, the program "Cultural Diplomacy: Vietnamese Tet Concerto" took place at Mailand urban area, Hoai Duc, Hanoi, attracting many domestic and international guests. At the program, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam, and domestic and foreign delegates enjoyed Quan Ho melodies, visited the Tet flower street, asked for parallel sentences, wrapped Chung cakes and participated in many other traditional activities.
Last week, many Vietnamese representative agencies abroad organized the program Xuan Que Huong - Tet At Ty 2025 with the participation of many overseas Vietnamese, international students and officials and employees of Vietnamese representative agencies living, working and studying in other countries.
