Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Bui Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Dinh and Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament, said that Binh Dinh traditional martial arts was born, existed and developed in parallel with the history of the nation's struggle to build and defend the country. Through many generations of preservation, integration, enrichment and elevation, Binh Dinh traditional martial arts have always been preserved, developed and spread widely, are the crystallization of the nation's quintessence, and have become a typical value system of a land.

According to Mr. Bui Trung Hieu, in order to commemorate and show gratitude for the great contributions of Emperor Quang Trung and his predecessors who have worked hard to preserve, build and develop Binh Dinh traditional martial arts; create a strong development step, expand the scale into a regional tournament in the Central Highlands and advance to the national level; Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee has agreed on the policy of organizing the traditional martial arts tournament of Binh Dinh martial arts schools to compete for the Emperor Quang Trung Cup, a traditional tournament held annually.

Coming to this tournament, each club and martial arts school brings its own mark of each sect, representing a typical martial arts school in the overall traditional martial arts of Binh Dinh", Mr. Hieu emphasized.
As planned, the 6th Quang Trung Emperor Cup Traditional Martial Arts Tournament of Binh Dinh martial arts schools in 2024 will end on August 13.
According to the leader of the Department of Culture and Sports of Binh Dinh, the Prime Minister has decided to compile a dossier on Binh Dinh traditional martial arts to submit to UNESCO for recognition as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. This is a very encouraging signal for Binh Dinh traditional martial arts, because it is not only a source of pride, creating momentum to bring national heritage to the international level, but also raising the sense of responsibility of the community in preserving and conserving the cultural values of the nation.
