On August 7, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, had a meeting with Mr. Ashraf Ahmed, Chairman of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and a delegation of Bangladeshi businesses.

Welcoming the Chairman of DCCI and Bangladeshi enterprises to visit and work in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung said that as the economic locomotive of the whole country, the economic - cultural - scientific and technical center and the international exchange hub of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City is contributing to the implementation of the national strategy on green growth for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 and implementing the green growth strategy towards sustainable development in Ho Chi Minh City by 2030.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City is also implementing a project to build a financial center along with many other programs and projects to develop infrastructure, economy and society. Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is focusing on developing towards a smart, modern urban area, becoming an economic, financial, commercial, scientific and technological center of the Southeast Asian region.
Ho Chi Minh City also focuses on promoting industrial transformation in all sectors, aiming for green and sustainable growth. Therefore, Ho Chi Minh City wishes to learn from Bangladesh's green production models, the "green factory" model in the textile and garment sector...

Affirming that Bangladesh is a potential market for Ho Chi Minh City businesses, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung suggested that the Chairman of DCCI and Bangladeshi businesses and Ho Chi Minh City organize investment promotion events so that the business communities of both sides can learn more about trade and investment cooperation opportunities.

Thanking the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for taking the time to receive the delegation, Mr. Ashraf Ahmed, Chairman of DCCI, said that the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry plays an important role in the economic development of Bangladesh on a global scale. In recent times, the bilateral trade partnership between the two countries has been growing, but there is still much potential for cooperation.
According to Mr. Ashraf Ahmed, the two sides need to strengthen cooperation to exploit each side's strengths. Bangladeshi enterprises wish to cooperate in business in Vietnam, especially in the fields of agricultural processing, machinery manufacturing, IT, construction materials, medical equipment, electronic products, etc. Mr. Ashraf Ahmed also hopes that Vietnamese investors in general, and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, will come to Bangladesh to explore investment cooperation opportunities.
