Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên19/11/2024

According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2024 there will be nearly 400 training majors, divided into 24 fields. Notably, this year the number of candidates registering for teacher training in the field of education and training has increased the most, up to 85% compared to 2023. Next, the field of natural sciences has a 61% increase in the number of candidates registering for admission. The field of national security and defense increased by 46.5%.

STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields such as computers and information technology also have many registered PhDs. Overall, the STEM sector has about 30% of employees. The semiconductor design industry increased by about 30%. The total number of employees registered in majors related to semiconductor design increased by about 30%; of which, category 1 increased by about 40%.

Statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training also show that some fields have seen a decrease in the rate of registered PhDs, such as business and management down 3%; computers and information technology down about 5%, equivalent to 15,000 employees.

Despite the decrease, the leading field with the most registered PhDs in 2024 is still business and management, followed by engineering and technology. Compared to 2022, the proportion of PhDs registered in both of these fields is gradually decreasing in the total number of PhDs registered in 2023 and 2024.

Candidates for high school graduation exam and university entrance exam in 2024

Adjustments in TS registration trends will impact university benchmarks.

This year, Saigon University recorded 41,247 students applying for admission to the school with a total of 64,907 candidates. Last year, the standard scores for the school's majors ranged from 20.80 to 26.31. Of the 14 teacher training majors, 10 majors required an average score of 8 points or higher for each subject to be admitted. Notably, some majors required over 26 points, such as English pedagogy (SP), mathematics pedagogy (group A00). This year, the quota for many pedagogical majors decreased. The quota decreased but the number of candidates increased, so this year the standard scores for the school's teacher training majors are expected to increase sharply.

Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education also recorded over 31,000 students registering for admission (double that of 2023). The total number of students applying to the school this year reached nearly 52,000, an increase of more than 2.2 times compared to 2023. Many of the school's teaching majors have quotas for the graduation exam score method expected to be under 10 students. Last year's benchmark score for many majors was above 26 and is expected to continue to increase this year.

Meanwhile, in the field of business and management training, Ho Chi Minh City Banking University said that the number of students registering for admission to the school this year increased by more than 30% compared to 2023. In particular, the number of students registering for the majors of marketing, logistics and supply chain management, financial technology, data science and international business is very high. However, according to the school representative, the standard scores for these majors this year will likely be stable as in previous years.

Dr. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang, Vice Principal of the school, said that the school recruited 2,000 students and recorded 8,873 students registered for admission. In particular, the number of students registered for some majors increased sharply, such as artificial intelligence, computer science, and information technology. "The school's benchmark score this year is expected to increase by 0.5 - 1 point depending on the major," said the Vice Principal of the University of Information Technology. Last year, the benchmark scores of the school's majors ranged from 25.4 - 27.8 points, with artificial intelligence leading the way, followed by data science.
