Hot industry benchmarks expected to increase
Currently, many schools have predicted that the benchmark score in 2024 will increase slightly compared to last year.
Analyzing the 2024 high school graduation exam score distribution, Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Vice Principal of Hanoi University predicted that the admission scores for the school's majors would not fluctuate much compared to last year. The admission scores for majors, if any, would increase or decrease, would also be within the range of 0.5 - 1 point compared to 2023.

For some hot majors such as English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Marketing, Information Technology, Multimedia Communications... candidates must have an average score of 8.5 - 9 or higher for each subject to ensure admission.
The entrance scores of these majors are expected to remain stable at a high level, around 34-36 points on a 40-point scale or 24-26 points on a 30-point scale for Information Technology and Multimedia. In particular, the Korean Language major (the major with the highest entrance score of the school in 2023) may increase.
According to Dr. Le Anh Duc - Deputy Head of Training Management Department of National Economics University, the standard scores for many majors of the school may increase by 0.25 to 0.75 points compared to last year.
Of which, the top industries increased slightly, about 0.25 points; the middle industries increased more strongly, from 0.5 to 0.75 points.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Le Dinh Tung - Head of Training Management Department of Hanoi Medical University, the benchmark scores for the majors of Medicine and Dentistry this year will increase compared to last year because with the B00 combination, the whole country only has 311 candidates achieving 28.5 points or more (not including priority and incentive points).
At the end of the registration period, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade received about 50,000 applications from candidates, nearly double last year.
According to Mr. Pham Thai Son, Director of the school's Admissions and Communications Center, the school's benchmark score this year is between 16-24 for a combination of three subjects. Some top majors may increase by 1-3 points.
Benchmarks will be announced no later than August 19.
The Ministry of Education and Training said that at the time of locking the online registration portal, the Ministry of Education and Training's General Admission Support System recorded a total of more than 733,000 candidates who had entered their registration wishes for admission in 2024.
This number is equivalent to 68.5% of the number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam in 2024.
According to the admission schedule, candidates must pay the university admission registration fee from now until 5:00 p.m. on August 6.
The virtual screening process will take place from August 13 to 5:00 p.m. on August 17. After this period, schools can announce the benchmark scores and admission results to candidates.
Thus, by August 17, universities will be able to announce admission results to candidates.
Finally, by 5:00 p.m. on August 19 at the latest, universities and colleges must complete the announcement of university and college admission scores and the first round of admission results.
