Vietnamese people go on "incentive tourism" in Korea more than in China

Currently, the Korean tourist market to Vietnam accounts for the highest proportion, contributing to the recovery of domestic tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic. On the contrary, the number of Vietnamese tourists to Korea has also grown strongly, becoming the most important market in Southeast Asia. According to Ms. Song Eun Kyeong - Director of MICE Marketing Department, Korea Tourism Organization, in 2023, the number of Korean tourists to Vietnam reached 3.6 million. Meanwhile, Vietnamese tourists to Korea also exceeded 420,000, becoming the largest market in Southeast Asia. In particular, Vietnam is an important market for incentive tourism - a form of organization with the main purpose of rewarding people with outstanding achievements in companies and units - in Korea. "The number of Vietnamese reward tourists that the Korea Tourism Organization in Vietnam supported in 2023 alone was approximately 41,000. Thereby surpassing the group of Thai and Chinese tourists, becoming the Asian country with the highest proportion of reward tourists to Korea" - Ms. Song Eun Kyeong said. According to statistics, the number of domestic reward tourists to Korea in 2023 increased 3 times compared to 2022. With both sides regularly implementing support programs for tourists, Ms. Song Eun Kyeong expects tourism exchanges between the two countries to exceed 5 million visitors for the first time since opening.

There are 23 flights connecting Da Nang - Korea every day.

At the program, many delegates recognized that Da Nang has a "special place" in the hearts of Korean visitors. On average, there are 23 direct flights connecting Da Nang and South Korea every day, making flights to the land of kimchi among the busiest at Da Nang airport. Mr. Kang Boosung, Consul General of Korea in Da Nang, said that before the COVID-19 pandemic, Da Nang welcomed about 1.7 million Korean visitors a year. After the pandemic, Da Nang quickly regained its position and recovered quickly. Mr. Kang Boosung said that through 23 direct flights operated every day between South Korea and Da Nang, more than 780,000 Korean visitors visited the city in the first 6 months of this year. "On the other hand, the number of visas to Korea issued in Da Nang has also increased rapidly since 2022, showing that the trend of Vietnamese people in the Central region coming to Korea is also gradually expanding," said Mr. Kang Boosung.
