West Lake is an attractive and unique tourist destination of the capital. |
Developing tourism in West Lake and its vicinity is one of the important activities in Hanoi's development in the period up to 2030, with a vision to 2045. With its new position and stature, West Lake is a highlight of the capital's tourism, along with the Old Quarter and Red River tourism.
At the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Tat Thang - former Director of the Institute of Development Strategy - Ministry of Planning and Investment said that the socio-economic development of Tay Ho district is facing a new and extremely favorable opportunity, in which the service sector is the foundation and green tourism, connecting cultural traditions with modernity is the main pillar and the main economic driving force of this land.
In the immediate future, arranging space, developing infrastructure and preparing human resources according to international standards will be the basis for ensuring the implementation of sustainable tourism development goals.
Some experts believe that in order to develop and build West Lake into a focal point in planning, it is necessary to understand the history and culture of this area, and to start from the root, which is to restore, preserve and reconstruct historical and cultural relics along West Lake and its surrounding areas; preserve and develop traditional festivals; traditional craft villages; build cultural spaces, etc.
In addition, Tay Ho district should orient to strongly develop to attract international tourism, prioritize the development of green tourism, eco-tourism, and follow the direction of environmental protection, ecology, and biodiversity protection.
In addition, the district needs to have new tourism products so that visitors can have souvenirs specific to the district. In addition to identifying environmentally friendly economic models, the district needs to have stricter regulations on wastewater, emissions, waste collection, etc.
At the workshop, Secretary of the Tay Ho District Party Committee Le Thi Thu Hang hoped that the district would continue and develop the cultural values of West Lake in the coming time. Ms. Hang said that West Lake is a "special" thing of the district in particular, Hanoi in general and compared to the capitals of many countries in the world. Therefore, it is necessary to organize a West Lake Festival to tell a story about West Lake every year, as to preserve the cultural roots. This is also a way to promote the green, cultural, civilized, modern capital of Hanoi...
