These are majors that, in addition to tuition fees, have much higher expenses than other majors.
PRODUCT INVESTMENT FROM A FEW TENS OF MILLIONS TO HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF VND
Le Bao Ngoc, a final year student majoring in multimedia communications at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that the nature of the major is to produce products and projects. "From the first year, students have been given the opportunity to be exposed to the reality of the major, so there are subjects such as basic directing skills, storyboarding, audio visual techniques... Every semester we make products such as short films, music videos, participate in activities for brands, businesses... We have to produce podcasts and videos. The scale and budget depend on each student's ability," Ngoc said.

The fashion collection in the graduation project of the "child" models cost quite a lot of money.
However, according to Ngoc, a product such as a short film (5 minutes) must cost at least 10 million VND, a music video at least 20 million VND. If there is no supporting relationship or no sponsorship, the amount is very large, up to 50 - 60 million VND/music video.
"Graduation projects are much more expensive. If you make a 15-minute film, the budget is about 60 - 80 million VND. There are groups that invest hundreds of millions of VND in graduation projects," Bao Ngoc added.
Meanwhile, Tu Trinh, who just graduated from the fashion design major at Hoa Sen University, said that when she registered to study this major, she did not think that in addition to the tuition fee, the learning process would cost so much. Trinh recounted: "Right when I started school, I had to buy a sewing machine, the cheapest one was 3-5 million. Then I bought a laptop for 19 million. However, due to the nature of the major, I had to use a machine with a strong configuration. After a while, the machine could not run, so I had to buy another one with a stronger configuration for 30 million VND. From the third year onwards, I often had to do homework to create design products. Each product like that, to be neat and eye-catching, costs about 5 million VND with the costs of buying fabric, hiring models, photographers... Each year we have to make 4-5 products."
"Usually, a collection requires hiring at least 3 models, each model costs from 2.5 to 10 million VND depending on the brand. Then, the photo shoot requires hiring a photographer, a car, makeup artist, location, food, gas... The total cost is about 50 million VND," Trinh said.

You don't have to invest a lot of money to get a high score.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Quyen, Head of the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said: "It is true that for art and creative fields such as fine arts, design... implementing projects, models, and products when doing assignments and graduation projects often requires students to spend a certain amount of money. However, the level of this expense depends a lot on the approach, orientation, and requirements of each school and each major. For example, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology focuses on students' ability to be creative, solve problems, and apply products, rather than placing too much emphasis on the level of material investment."
According to Dr. Ngoc Quyen, there are currently many ways for students to receive support when doing their projects, such as being sponsored by businesses, receiving support in technology and engineering, or receiving help from students from previous courses.
"It is important that students get the right guidance from their teachers and make good use of the available support opportunities. There are many students who, despite investing a lot of money in their projects, do not get the same results as students who invest less money," Dr. Ngoc Quyen shared.
Dr. Vo Van Tuan, Vice Principal of Van Lang University, shared: "If your family's economic conditions are not suitable, it will be difficult for you to study. But if you are passionate, talented, and good at studying, you have many ways such as finding funding, working part-time, or if you are excellent, the school will grant you a scholarship of 50-100% of the full tuition fee, which will greatly reduce the burden."
In addition, Dr. Tuan also noted that product evaluation does not depend on how much money is invested, but depends on many factors such as creative ideas, how ideas are expressed, effort, and intelligence put in...
