Accordingly, female patient NTCT (born 2009, residing in Long Phu district, Soc Trang province) was transferred to Can Tho General Hospital at 11:52 on August 8 by the front line in a state of headache, a penetrating skull wound in the right occipital region with a foreign object, a sharp pair of scissors, still stuck.

The patient's family said that at 8am the same day, the patient was sitting and playing when suddenly her younger brother picked up a pair of sharp scissors and threw them at a stray cat, but unfortunately hit her sister on the head. The patient was taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment and then quickly transferred to Can Tho General Hospital. The CT scan results showed that the patient had a radiopaque foreign body penetrating the right parietal cranium, with a metallic artifact.

The doctors quickly consulted and decided to perform emergency surgery by Koa Neurosurgeons. The wound on the right parietal area was caused by a 0.5cm puncture of the scissors. A long incision was made on both sides of the right occipital area to expose the skull. Exploration showed that the scissors punctured the skull 1.2cm deep.

The doctors drilled around the skull, removed the scissors, continued to remove some epidural hematoma, checked that the dura mater was not torn, only scratches on the dura mater surface, cleaned the surgical site to check for bleeding, placed a drain on the surgical wound, and sutured the skin in two layers. The surgery was successful after 90 minutes.
The patient is currently conscious, vital signs are stable, neurological functions are normal, the surgical wound is dry, the surgical wound drainage is small and pink fluid is small, and is being monitored and treated at the Department of Neurosurgery.
