According to the competition organizers, this is the first time Vietnam has joined the network of countries participating in the NASA International Space Apps Challenge - NASA's largest global hackathon.

The NASA International Space Apps Challenge is a global hackathon with participation from over 185 countries and territories. Co-hosted by 13 of the world's leading space agencies, the competition encourages programmers, designers, and technology enthusiasts around the world to solve important space-related challenges.

At the kick-off event, contestants were instructed on how to participate in the competition, the benefits of participating in the world's largest hackathon, as well as learning about space activities in Vietnam; participating in discussions with leading experts in the field of space, about the impact of the space industry on human life and the role of Vietnam in the global supply chain, the potential and opportunities of the space industry in Vietnam...

The main event of the competition - Space Apps Ho Chi Minh City Hackathon will take place on October 5-6, with the theme "The Sun Touches Everything". This is an open theme, encouraging creative teams to solve challenges given by NASA, related to the influence of the Sun on all areas of life and space.

Teams will be provided with open NASA data to develop solutions to address real-world challenges on Earth and in space.

The competition is not only an opportunity to practice programming and technology skills, but also opens up many career opportunities and connects with the international technology enthusiast community. Contestants have the opportunity to contribute to solving major problems of humanity, while receiving global certification and a series of valuable prizes.

The authors of the best projects will have the opportunity to be invited to NASA headquarters in the US to attend the award ceremony.
