On October 12, at the Hanoi Library, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports held the Closing and Awarding Ceremony of the Contest "Family Reading - Developing a Family Bookshelf Connecting Love". The contest is not only a simple cultural event, but also an important highlight in the activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
The contest “Family reading books – Developing a family bookshelf connecting love” is the first contest organized and implemented by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in the city. The contest aims to spread and develop a reading culture in each family and community towards building and forming beauty in the cultural and spiritual life of the people, contributing to building a learning society. Thereby honoring the cultural values of Vietnamese families, arousing love for books, affirming the importance and value of books in building happy families.
The contest, which was launched in July 2024, has received positive reception and response from families in the area. After only 2 months of launching, the Organizing Committee has received video clips from 74 typical families from 22 districts, towns and cities participating in the city-level contest. Many videos and clips of the families have left a deep impression on viewers, with careful investment in both form and content, choosing good and meaningful books.
With the impartiality and objectivity of the Jury judging the videos and clips of the families, the Organizing Committee recognized the results of the competition for 30 families who won prizes including: 1 First prize, 3 Second prizes, 6 Third prizes, and 20 Encouragement prizes.
Speaking at the Award Ceremony, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh - Director of Hanoi Library, said: "With the success of the first season of the "Family Reading - Developing a Family Bookshelf Connecting Love" Contest. I hope that next season, we will continue to receive close attention and direction from all levels, sectors and localities. Especially the enthusiastic participation of families so that the contest can spread further, striving for 100% of districts, towns and cities to participate with more entries, contributing to promoting reading culture from family to community".
The results of the Contest have proven that this is a truly useful and interesting playground for families, contributing to raising awareness of the importance of reading for the development of individuals, families and communities, helping the reading culture to spread more and more widely.
The contest aims to build and form beauty in the cultural and spiritual life of the people; introduce the family bookshelf model; encourage participation in building family bookshelf, clan bookshelf, in order to sustainably maintain the habit of reading, arouse the spirit of reading, respect knowledge, stimulate the spirit of self-reading, self-study in each family.
