On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), General Secretary To Lam wrote a special article: "Vietnam is one, the Vietnamese people are one". One of the profound messages emphasized by the General Secretary in the article is the spirit of national reconciliation and harmony, putting the past behind, looking towards the future, for the common goal of building a prosperous and powerful Vietnam.
After being published in the mass media, General Secretary To Lam's article received support, agreement, trust and positive response from cadres, party members, people, researchers...
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc – former Director of the Institute of Party History (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics)
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc - former Director of the Institute of Party History (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics): In the article of the General Secretary, one of the profound messages emphasized by the head of our Party is the spirit of national harmony and reconciliation. Vietnamese people at home and abroad, including those who were once attached to the old regime, who stood on the "other side", even though at times they had different opinions and perceptions, now come together, unite with the spirit of eliminating hatred and inferiority complex to join hands to build a strong, prosperous, civilized and happy Vietnam.
Humanity, benevolence, and peace are the traditions and culture of the Vietnamese people for thousands of years. Even with the Saigon government in 1975, when they surrendered, we treated them very humanely and humanely. There is a detail that many people may not know, that is, when the Duong Van Minh government announced its surrender, the commanders and our liberation army in the Independence Palace invited members of the Duong Van Minh government's cabinet to stay and have dinner with our liberation army soldiers. Or another detail is that we instructed our forces not to shoot at planes carrying evacuees but only at opposing forces in the inner city. All of these things demonstrate the noble spirit of humanity and humaneness of our people.
The spirit of national reconciliation has been evident since the country was completely liberated on April 30, 1975 until now. We all know the famous saying of the late General Secretary Le Duan when he first stepped off the plane at Tan Son Nhat airport right after April 30, 1975, he talked about the spirit of national reconciliation and solidarity: "This victory belongs to the entire Vietnamese people, not to any one person."
When entering the Renovation process, our Party clearly stated its viewpoint of being extremely friendly and humane towards those on the “other side”, those who left the Fatherland to settle abroad. Therefore, in 1993, the Party’s resolution continued to speak of the spirit of national harmony, uniting all classes, ethnicities, religions, people in the country and those settling abroad to look towards the future, to build, innovate, and develop the country to become increasingly prosperous. After that, the Party continuously issued resolutions on work with overseas Vietnamese and considered overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the great national unity bloc.
That spirit of national reconciliation is very bright and righteous, demonstrating the morality and tradition of the Vietnamese people: "people in the same country love each other". We are even in harmony with the United States. The relationship between Vietnam and the United States today has gone from being former enemies to becoming comprehensive strategic partners, cooperating for peace, for the benefit of the people of both countries, for security and stability in the region.
The message of national reconciliation in the General Secretary's article has the power to call for solidarity so that every Vietnamese person can join hands in building the country for the goal of sustainable and everlasting development as stated in the article: "We cannot rewrite history, but we can replan the future. The past is to be remembered, to be grateful for and to learn lessons from. The future is to be built, created and developed together."

Teacher Truong Thi Hang, Nghia Hung A High School (Nghia Hung, Nam Dinh): General Secretary To Lam's article is a well-structured political essay, harmoniously combining emotions, theory and practice. The article demonstrates the passionate patriotism, national pride and far-sighted vision of a talented leader. With tight arguments, sharp and emotional language, the article arouses patriotism and national pride in the reader.
The article has helped every person living in today's era clearly feel the value of the life we are enjoying that has been exchanged for the blood of our ancestors, so that we can be more aware of our duty to the current cause of building and protecting the country. The article also shows the strategic vision of the leader of our Party.
I am convinced that national unification is not the destination but the starting point. Unification to build, unification to develop. The article also points out what we must do to develop the country in the digital age... As a teacher standing on the podium, I will convey the spirit of the General Secretary's article to students so that they will be more proud of the country, thereby trying to study and contribute to building the country, to continue writing "brilliant new chapters in the journey of national development", as the General Secretary believes.
Teacher Nguyen Nhan Ai
Teacher Nguyen Nhan Ai, Literature teacher, Kim Thanh High School, Kim Thanh District, Hai Duong Province: The General Secretary's article is a general recognition and assessment throughout the length of national history, reminding us of the significance of the victory of April 30, 1975 - the victory of justice over tyranny, of the strength of great solidarity, of the correct leadership that is in accordance with the people's hearts and the truth of the times.
In the article, General Secretary To Lam emphasized: "We cannot rewrite history, but we can replan the future. The past is to remember, to be grateful for, and to learn lessons from. The future is to build, create, and develop together." This is a meaningful and profound statement. Our nation has gone through pain and loss, but with courage, indomitability, with the spirit of solidarity, self-reliance, self-reliance, and self-strengthening, today we have every right to hold our heads high when talking about the past - the painful but heroic history of "a nation with a small land and a small population" but able to defeat any powerful enemy thanks to the close solidarity under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam; from there we love and cherish the value of a peaceful life today.
In the strong transformation of the country towards the new era, we completely trust in the leadership of the Party and State, as well as reflect more on our sense of responsibility to society and the community, which will be "a small spring" contributing to creating a great spring for the homeland and country.
Ms. Pham Thao Hien (Polish Vietnamese)
Ms. Pham Thao Hien (Polish Vietnamese): I have lived in Poland for more than 20 years. As the General Secretary said in the article, I always carry in my heart national pride, being a "Vietnamese citizen" and always having a deep nostalgia for the two words "homeland". Every time I return to visit my homeland, I am happy to see the changes in my homeland, happy that the country's economy is increasingly developing, and that the roads are convenient.
The country is entering a new era, as the General Secretary said in the article: "We do not let the country fall behind, do not let the nation lose opportunities", I think that to do this, education is important. Educating people to change their consciousness, for the common good rather than personal interests, then society will develop better. I believe and hope that, under the leadership of the Party, in the spirit of the General Secretary's article, we will invest more in education, teaching children not only knowledge but also the consciousness to know for everyone, for an increasingly developed Vietnam.
Ms. Le Thuy Hung, Thu Duc District, Ho Chi Minh City: Over the past few days, when I watched the parade rehearsal in Ho Chi Minh City, I felt proud of my country and even more grateful to the generations of fathers and brothers who fell so that we could have the life we have today. In that mood, reading the article by General Secretary To Lam, my pride and gratitude became even deeper and I became more aware of the truth: "Vietnam is one, the Vietnamese people are one".
From the years of hardship and sacrifice, to today, the country is peaceful and developed, all thanks to the talented leadership of the Party, of beloved Uncle Ho, and the strong solidarity of our people. I firmly believe that, under the Party's flag, Vietnam will become increasingly rich and strong, firmly on the path of integration and development. I will teach my children and myself to always love the country, live responsibly, and contribute to building and protecting our beloved Fatherland. I believe that Vietnam will always maintain its independence, freedom, happiness, prosperity, civilization, prosperity, and have an important position and voice in the international community.
