Thanh Hoa: The overall project of applying information technology in the tourism sector has brought many positive results.

The report said that, implementing Decision No. 1671/QD-TTg dated November 30, 2018 of the Prime Minister on approving the Master Plan on applying information technology in the tourism sector for the period 2018 - 2020, with a vision to 2025, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued Plan No. 115/KH-UBND dated May 3, 2019 on implementing the above Project, assigning specific tasks to relevant departments, branches and localities. Based on the assigned tasks, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Plan No. 1853/KH SVHTTDL dated June 5, 2029 on implementing Plan No. 115/KH-UBND dated May 3, 2019.

Accordingly, regarding "Application of digital technology to support tourists before and after the trip", Thanh Hoa province has focused on promoting the application of digital technology to support tourists before and after the trip through the construction and operation of the Electronic Tourism Information Portal and Smart Tourism Application on mobile devices in Thanh Hoa province with smart features, helping tourists access, experience, and use smart tourism services, saving time and costs.

In addition, the work of "Improving the efficiency of tourist destination management, developing smart tourist destinations and Thanh Hoa tourism information system" is continuously implemented. Localities, Management Boards of tourist areas and spots always ensure stable maintenance of high-speed Internet; have free wifi system; QR code scanning application to look up destination information; build automatic commentary speaker system at Lam Kinh historical relic site, automatic multimedia commentary system applying artificial intelligence technology at the exhibition room of the Provincial Museum, surveillance camera system to promptly resolve arising situations of tourists.

The Department has deployed a project to install a system of image and landscape marker holders to deploy AR on the Mobifone Smart Travel smart tourism application at 09 tourist areas and destinations to help visitors increase their experience and easily access historical and cultural information via mobile devices.

Up to now, most accommodation and tourism service businesses in the province have applied digital transformation and green technology in tourism operations (booking rooms, digital instructions, tracking customer flows, etc.), making payments through online payment applications, thereby contributing to improving service quality.

With the work of "Developing the Thanh Hoa tourism information system", Thanh Hoa province has built and effectively implemented many projects, programs and plans to apply information technology in the tourism sector. The projects, programs and plans were implemented promptly, contributing to promoting the development of the tourism information system, enhancing the promotion and advertising of tourism in the area.

The work of "Propaganda, training, fostering, raising awareness of information technology application in the tourism industry" has been actively implemented. Every year, agencies, units, and localities in the province have sent many cadres and employees to attend training courses to raise awareness and information technology level organized by the Central and the province.

The report affirmed that the implementation of the Master Plan on the application of information technology in the tourism sector has brought about many positive results. These results have contributed to attracting investment in the tourism sector, promoting the increase in the number of visitors and revenue, towards the goal of building a smart, sustainable and internationally integrated tourism industry.

In the coming time, in order to promote the application of information technology in the tourism sector, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposes to build and deploy synchronously integrated, smart tourism platforms that can be shared among localities; pay attention to ensuring network safety and security and the ability to link with population data, accommodation management and reflect visitors' recommendations to serve management and operation.

Regularly organize specialized training programs on information technology for tourism personnel to ensure that they have full capacity and skills to achieve the "smart" index, have the ability to adapt to technology, have the ability to innovate and be creative, meet diverse market needs, and are suitable for the implementation of developing smart tourism destinations locally.

Strengthening the organization of training courses and skills development on the application of information technology in the tourism sector for managers, businesses and the tourism community, contributing to improving the capacity to operate and effectively exploit digital technology systems, meeting the requirements of digital transformation, promoting and developing sustainable tourism.
