The Quang Nam - Da Nang Postal Martyrs Memorial is a place to commemorate 596 heroic postal martyrs who heroically sacrificed their lives in the two resistance wars against France and the US.
The postal soldiers, with their steadfast spirit, intelligence and courage, day and night crossed the checkpoints, rushed into the front lines, contributed to maintaining the communication lines for the revolution, and made great contributions to the cause of national liberation and reunification.
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung offered incense at the memorial stele to commemorate the martyrs who steadfastly held their positions, were resourceful, and bravely crossed the checkpoints day and night, risked their lives on the information front, contributing to ensuring the flow of information and making great contributions to the cause of national liberation.
Speaking at the incense offering ceremony to commemorate the heroic postal soldiers who heroically sacrificed their lives in the two resistance wars against France and the US, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung affirmed: Throughout the struggle for national independence until the day the country was reunified, Quang Nam - Da Nang has recorded countless silent feats of heroic postal soldiers. Their indomitable spirit and glorious feats have become immortal symbols, going down in history and imprinted in the hearts of the nation.
Right after the country's peace day in 1975, the staff of the Post Office built the Memorial to pay tribute to those who had fallen. This is not only a memorial but also a "red address" to educate the younger generation about patriotism and love for their profession. With its outstanding value, the project has been recognized by Da Nang city as a city-level historical relic, demonstrating the recognition of the Party, State and local authorities for the contributions of the information and communication industry.
At the Memorial, the Minister met with retired postal officials, many of whom he had known for a long time. He spent time asking about their health and retirement life, and listening to their opinions and contributions to the industry in the new era.
The delegation and retired cadres of the postal sector offered incense to the martyrs. For many years, the Memorial has been a destination to pay tribute to the martyrs on the occasion of the traditional day of the information and communications sector.
The relic site is over 4,000 square meters wide with many items: Monuments, tombstones, and a 13-meter-high flagpole. In the campus, there is a solemn statue of hero Kim Dong, along with two rows of memorial steles for postal soldiers of 18 districts of Quang Nam - Da Nang.
During the resistance war, the Quang Da postal sector built 130 information stations, 300 liaison teams; delivered more than 22 million documents, dispatches, newspapers; more than 20 million letters; transported 3,350 tons of weapons and ammunition; transported more than 450,000 cadres and soldiers; directly participated in more than 275 battles to ensure smooth communication.
The delegation took souvenir photos in front of the statue of hero Kim Dong and the Memorial of martyrs of the Quang Nam - Da Nang postal industry.
