On August 5, the Traffic Police Department (PC08), Ho Chi Minh City Police, said that since the beginning of 2024, the unit has prosecuted 6 criminal cases of violating regulations on road traffic participation and has transferred the case files to the Investigation Police Agency for further investigation according to its authority.
Among them are many typical cases of speeding, driving in the wrong lane, going the wrong way, driving past the time limit...
Typically, at around 5:40 a.m. on June 4, Mr. VP (born in 1985) drove a tractor with license plate 70H-04... pulling a trailer in the car lane on National Highway 22 from An Suong overpass to An Ha bridge. When he reached the intersection of Ba Trieu Street (Tan Xuan Commune, Hoc Mon District), due to not paying attention, he collided with 4 cars waiting at the traffic light.
Through investigation, PC08 found that the cause of the traffic accident was that Mr. P. drove the tractor continuously for more than 4 hours (from 10:30 p.m. on June 3 to 5:40 a.m. on June 4, more than 7 hours), so he fell asleep and did not observe the road ahead, leading to a series of collisions with 4 cars. The incident caused severe damage to the 4 cars and caused more than 471 million VND in damage.
Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police determined that Mr. P.'s behavior showed signs of violating road traffic regulations. On August 2, PC08 Department initiated a criminal case and transferred the case file to Hoc Mon District Police for further investigation.
In traffic accidents that cause death or property damage of VND 100 million or more; cause injury or damage to the health of 1 person with an injury rate of 61% or more; cause injury or damage to the health of 2 or more people with a total rate of 61% to 121%, the person causing the traffic accident will be prosecuted.
Depending on the nature and severity of the behavior related to the traffic accident, business owners and vehicle owners may be prosecuted or forced to compensate for damages according to the provisions of law.
In another case, at around 1:40 p.m. on April 17, Mr. NT (born in 1982) drove a concrete mixer truck on National Highway 1 in the direction of Tram 2 overpass to Nong Lam University. When the vehicle approached the T221L National Highway 1 power pole (Linh Trung ward, Thu Duc city), it turned right onto the branch road towards the gate of Nong Lam University and collided with a motorbike driven by Mr. VT (born in 2004) in the same direction.
The collision damaged the motorbike and seriously injured Mr. T. According to the assessment, Mr. T. suffered 71% bodily injury. Through investigation, the traffic police determined that the cause of the traffic accident was due to Mr. NT driving the concrete mixer truck and changing direction in an incorrect direction, causing the accident.
