Deputy Director of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting (Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade) Hoang Quan said that the center's goal is to enhance the value of handicraft products, OCOP, and craft villages. At the same time, build a chain of links from design to production and consumption of products on the basis of preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of craft villages associated with tourism, contributing to restructuring the economy of rural areas in the area.

The model also creates a connecting environment between artisans and young design teams, thereby contributing to enhancing the value of handicraft products, OCOP, and craft villages. “The recognition of the model of the Creative Design Center, introducing, promoting and selling OCOP products, craft villages associated with tourism in Phu Nghia commune is an important driving force to promote production and develop product brands in the bamboo and rattan craft village,” Mr. Quan emphasized.
Information from Chuong My district shows that currently, there are 175/206 villages with crafts in the district, of which 36 are recognized by the Hanoi People's Committee as traditional craft villages, with professions such as carpentry, stone carving, embroidery, etc. Notably, the district's rattan and bamboo weaving industry accounts for 27/36 villages recognized as traditional craft villages, currently 85% of the local population knows how to make traditional rattan and bamboo weaving.

Phu Nghia commune alone has 7/7 villages engaged in bamboo and rattan weaving with 90% of households participating, of which 3 villages Phu Vinh, Quan Cham, Khe Than are recognized as craft villages. The whole Phu Nghia commune has 17 companies trading in traditional handicrafts; the number of households that know how to produce handicrafts accounts for 85% of the total households in the whole commune.
In order to support craft villages in promoting product consumption in 2024, Hanoi City has issued Plan No. 297/KH-UBND on Developing Creative Design Centers, introducing, promoting and selling OCOP products, craft villages associated with tourism in districts and towns in Hanoi City in 2024. Accordingly, 5 to 10 models of Creative Design Centers, introducing, promoting and selling OCOP products, craft villages associated with tourism in the city will be recognized.
