In order to help localities and schools proactively implement the school year schedule, the Ministry of Education and Training has projected the timing for the 2025 high school graduation exam. Accordingly, the 2025 high school graduation exam is expected to be held on June 26th and 27th, 2025.

2025 will be the first year that 12th-grade students will take the high school graduation exam under the 2018 General Education Program.
According to the announced plan, starting from the 2025 high school graduation exam, each candidate will take four subjects: mathematics, literature, and two elective subjects from the remaining options (foreign language, history, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, economics and law education, informatics, technology).
The Literature exam will be in essay format with a time limit of 120 minutes; the exam consists of two parts: reading comprehension (4 points) and writing (6 points). The remaining subjects will be in multiple-choice format, with Mathematics having a time limit of 90 minutes and the other subjects having a time limit of 50 minutes.
The multiple-choice test questions are divided into three parts: Part 1 (consisting of multiple-choice questions with four options to choose from); Part 2 (consisting of true/false questions. Each question has four options, and the candidate chooses either true or false for each option); Part 3 (consisting of short-answer questions. Candidates mark the boxes corresponding to their answers).
At the end of 2023, the Ministry of Education and Training announced sample questions for the exam structure and format, stating that this structure and format would be the basis for building the question bank and creating exam questions for the high school graduation exam from 2025 onwards.
The subjects with sample exam questions include: literature, mathematics, foreign languages (English, Russian, French, German, Korean, Japanese, Chinese), chemistry, physics, biology, history, geography, economics and law education, computer science, and technology (industrial technology and agricultural technology ).
Specifically, starting from the 2025 high school graduation exam, in order to overcome the situation where students only memorize lessons, copy content from available materials, or avoid the situation of focusing on only certain topics or studying only specific subjects, the literature exam will not use texts or excerpts already studied in textbooks as source material.
