Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Van Hieu informed that in August 2024, the Department will issue a document guiding the preparation for the 10th grade entrance exam in 2025.

According to the plan, the exam method and content will be announced in September. In October 2024, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will announce sample questions for each subject of the 10th grade entrance exam.

The 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 will remain stable with 3 subjects including Literature, Math and Foreign Language. This is also the first entrance exam according to the 2018 General Education Program.

"However, the level of differentiation and innovation of the exam questions in each subject will be calculated and adjusted by the Department to suit teaching and learning in the direction of assessing students' abilities - closely following the goals of the 2018 General Education Program at the secondary level," said Mr. Hieu.

According to Mr. Hieu, the early announcement of sample questions aims to help teachers and schools have direction in innovating teaching and testing and assessment closely following the direction of assessing students' abilities.

The Department will replace the specialized 10th grade exams: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography with specialized exams of Natural Sciences, History - Geography in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program at the secondary level. The Department will have specific instructions on this so that teachers and students can prepare early.

"The 10th grade entrance exam based on student capacity assessment is not new to Ho Chi Minh City, because over the past 10 years, Ho Chi Minh City has consistently implemented this goal," the Director of the Department of Education and Training emphasized.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will strengthen the direction of teaching, testing and assessment at secondary level, ensuring consistency and compliance with the goals of the 2018 General Education Program.

"In addition, the Department of Education and Training will compare and evaluate the output at the secondary level according to the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program. At the end of grade 9, in each subject, students will achieve the requirements set by the new program," said a representative of the Department of Education and Training.
