On the morning of April 14, the Traffic Police Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police Department said that they are coordinating with relevant units to handle the lack of awareness of a group of passengers on Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) after a case of a passenger doing pull-ups on the handrail in the train car appeared.

According to the Traffic Police Department, Metro Line 1 is the first urban railway line in Ho Chi Minh City, considered a symbol of the city's development and modernity. Since its inauguration, the Metro Line has received many positive responses from the people; the majority appreciate its convenience, speed, safety and comfort in travel.

However, there are still some unconscious behaviors that affect the civilized environment in public places.

One of the recent disturbing behaviors is that some individuals take advantage of the handrails in train cars to perform exercises such as pull-ups, regardless of the reactions of surrounding passengers.

Specifically, at around 5:00 p.m. on March 12, on Metro train No. 1 from the City Theater Station to Binh Thai Station in Thu Duc City, a male passenger climbed onto the handrail and iron bar on the train to perform pull-ups. Despite many passengers' warnings, this person continued to act in an offensive manner, causing disorder. A passenger took a picture and reported it to security personnel, but the subject had left the train before the authorities could intervene.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Traffic Police Department coordinated with the Truong Tho Ward Police, Thu Duc City to verify and identify the violator as NVTT (born in 1989, residing in Thu Duc City) currently residing abroad.

According to the authorities, the act of hanging on the vertical bar near the ceiling of a train while the train is in operation is considered “Disturbing public order”. This is an act of intentionally violating public discipline, causing negative impacts on social order and safety. Because this person has left Vietnam, the police cannot invite him to work, but will handle the case when he re-enters the country.

The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Department emphasized that doing pull-ups on trains not only causes unsightliness, but also poses a high risk of accidents, especially when the train brakes suddenly or there is a collision. Improper use of handrails and equipment on trains can damage the structure and affect public property. Violations will be strictly handled according to the law, depending on the severity, they may be subject to administrative sanctions or criminal prosecution.

In order to ensure order, safety, civilization and convenience when participating in traffic on Metro Line 1, the Traffic Police Department recommends that each passenger needs to raise their awareness, respect public spaces, behave civilly; absolutely do not misuse handrails, grab bars and other equipment on the train.

Passengers must comply with the regulations of the metro line operator, such as:

Do not organize art performances or shoot promotional videos in the station area or on the train (except in licensed cases).

Do not lean against train doors and always keep your hands away from train door slots.

Do not open windows on the train without permission.

Do not cross the yellow safety line drawn at the platform barrier area.

Do not litter or throw hard objects onto the platform and track areas.

Do not board or leave the train when the doors are closing or when there is a closing signal.

Do not harass or violate public morals and ethics towards passengers and operating staff.

No soliciting, soliciting to buy or sell or street vending.

Do not carry weapons, tools, or support equipment unless authorized by a licensed person.

Do not quarrel, fight, swear or use hostile language towards others.

Do not carry flammable, explosive, dangerous substances or objects prohibited by law.

Do not eat, drink or smoke (including electronic cigarettes) in elevators or in ticket-checked areas at stations and on trains.

Do not use roller skates in any areas within the station.

Do not talk loudly or use mobile devices at high volume, causing discomfort or disturbing other passengers around you.

Do not bring food or strong-smelling objects onto the train or into the station area (if you bring food or food, passengers must use sealed plastic bags) and do not consume them until you leave the station area.

Do not bring pets on board; except for small pets which can be kept in cages or sealed bags.

Do not bring balloons into the station area and waiting area on the train.

Compliance with the above regulations not only helps passengers have a safe and convenient travel experience but also contributes to ensuring traffic order and safety, and building a public transport culture.
