Selling pressure continued to increase sharply in this morning session (August 2). VN-Index broke through the 1,220-point threshold, losing 13.21 points, or 1.08%, to 1,213.75 points; HNX-Index decreased by 2.37 points, or 1.03%, and UPCoM-Index decreased by 0.77 points, or 0.83%.
Stocks fell across all three exchanges, but the sell-off has not yet been triggered. There were 347 stocks falling on HoSE, but only 3 hit the floor, while 72 stocks rose. HNX had 107 stocks falling, 40 stocks rising; UPCoM had 177 stocks falling, 93 stocks rising.
The VN30 basket had 25 stocks decreasing in price and only 5 stocks increasing: POW, VNM, GVR, STB and HPG. Vingroup stocks adjusted strongly, VHM decreased 2.6% to 35,500 VND; VIC decreased 2.3% to 41,150 VND; VRE decreased 2.2% to 17,800 VND.
Resource stocks were a bright spot in the market this morning (Source: VNDS).
Meanwhile, LDG was the only stock in the real estate sector that hit the floor on HoSE. NVT and QCG escaped the floor although their declines were still strong. NVT fell 6.8% and QCG fell 5.7%. Other real estate stocks fell sharply: TDH fell 3.9%; PDR fell 3.4%; SZC fell 4.8%; DIG fell 2.6%.
In the construction and materials industry, HBC only slightly decreased by 0.5%. VNE decreased by the floor, NHA decreased by 5.8%; HHV decreased by 3.7%; DPG decreased by 3.5%; FCM decreased by 3.1%; CTR decreased by 3.1%.
A series of stocks in the basic resource industry, especially the steel industry, which have been sold off heavily in recent sessions, currently have no codes hitting the floor. SMC escaped the floor, narrowing the loss to 2.6%; TLH decreased by 3%. Even green appeared when HPG and NKG both increased slightly by 0.2%; HSG increased by 1.2%; VCA increased by 5.2%.
Most financial stocks continued to be discounted to a deeper level: TCI decreased by 5.6%; VDS decreased by 4.4%; HCM decreased by 2.3%; APG decreased by 2.3%; VND decreased by 2%; ORS decreased by 2%. Except for STB which increased slightly by 0.5%, banking stocks also fell into a state of adjustment.
Thus, holding stocks should not be sold at all costs, but the party holding money should also be very cautious and not buy aggressively. Perhaps because in recent sessions, short-term investment in T+ time is very risky and easy to lose, thus causing the person holding money to hesitate and wait for a cheaper price before boldly disbursing.
Accordingly, liquidity in the market remains low. Trading volume on HoSE reached 293.04 million shares, equivalent to VND6,660.25 billion; on HNX it was 23.88 million shares, equivalent to VND416.91 billion and on UPCoM it was 22.29 million shares, equivalent to VND257.11 billion.
