To answer this question, according to Article 6 of the Law on Military Service 2015, male citizens of military service age are obliged to serve in the People's Army. Female citizens of military service age in peacetime, if they volunteer and the army has a need, can serve in the army.

Thus, male citizens must perform military service at the legal age, which is compulsory. As for female citizens, they must perform military service in peacetime if they volunteer and when the army needs it.

According to Article 12 of the 2015 Law on Military Service, the subjects registering for military service are female citizens, 18 years of age or older, with a profession or professional qualification that meets the requirements of the People's Army.

In addition, if after the end of the term of active service or while serving in the reserve force, they meet the requirements of the army, if they volunteer and the army has a need, they will be selected to transfer to serve under the regime of officers, professional soldiers or defense workers and civil servants according to the provisions of law under Clause 2, Article 23 of the Law on Military Service 2015.

Military service 2025: What will happen if you do not comply with the mobilization order?

Women who join the military must meet certain conditions.

Female citizens who do military service must also meet certain conditions as follows: be 18 years of age or older; have a clear background; strictly comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's policies and laws; have health class 1, 2, or 3 according to regulations of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of National Defense ; not be nearsighted by 1.5 diopters or more, farsighted, drug addicted, infected with HIV or AIDS; have an education level of grade 8 or higher.

When meeting these conditions, female citizens can register to join military service at the military command of the commune where they reside according to Article 16 of the Law on Military Service 2015.

Regarding the rights of female citizens serving in the military , female citizens are guaranteed the rights of annual leave while in the military. Accordingly, for non-commissioned officers and soldiers serving in the military from the 13th month onwards, the leave period is 10 days and they are paid for train, car, and travel allowances.

Relatives are supported with 500,000 VND/relative/time if the relative is sick for 1 month or more or is treated at a hospital for 7 days or more. Biological and legally adopted children are exempted or have reduced tuition fees. In case of serving in the army for 30 months, they will also receive an additional 2 months of current military rank allowance.

When discharged from the army , female citizens will also receive a subsidy equal to 2 months of basic salary at the time of discharge. They will be supported with vocational training and job placement equal to 6 months of basic salary at the time of discharge...
