Falling since opening, the market continued to fluctuate below the reference level, causing all major indices to be in red. At the end of the morning session, VN-Index decreased by 24.38 points to 1,212.22 points. HNX-Index decreased by 4.28 points, trading around 227 points.
Stocks in the VN30 basket were all red when facing strong selling pressure and took away more than 25 points from the general index. Of which, 4 banking stocks TCB, HPG, VPB and MBB stood out with quite strong declines.
Cash flow continued to flee the real estate sector, causing most stocks in this sector to fall sharply. Next, the financial sector stocks also turned red as leading stocks in the banking and securities sectors fell many points.
The cautious sentiment is clearly reflected in the rather low liquidity. Currently, on the electronic board, there are only a few codes with liquidity of more than 5 million units, and at the same time, all industry groups are trading below the reference level.
One of the reasons for the market turmoil is seen as the influence of global stocks. The sell-off that has rocked global equity markets is clouding the outlook for investors looking to buy at the bottom, as concerns about the US economy and disappointing earnings reports from technology stocks threaten to lead to further declines in the coming period.
Meanwhile, Asian stock markets continued to face strong profit-taking pressure, especially after the Bank of Japan (BOJ) returned to normalizing monetary policy by raising interest rates and reducing the scale of government bond purchases.
Dr. Nguyen Duy Phuong, Investment Director of DG Capital, commented that although the stock market is in a not-so-positive semi-annual reporting season, with many businesses releasing good news, it still cannot pull down stock prices. Short-term cash flows are not rushing into the market and the driving force is not strong enough to maintain the index's upward momentum. This makes investors continue to be hesitant and cautious, even losing patience and selling stocks when their accounts are gradually eroded.
In general, the short-term adjustment trend from June is continuing. Accordingly, in the short term, the strategy of prioritizing risk management activities continues to be emphasized. Medium and long-term investment positions are facing new opportunities. Investors should pay attention to deep adjustments to find the most favorable accumulation points for potential stocks thanks to their solid fundamentals.
