On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his deep gratitude to the high-ranking leaders of the Russian Federation for sending condolences on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; and at the same time sent Vice Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Tolstoy Petr Olegovich to attend the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The National Assembly Chairman thanked the Ambassador for coordinating the organization of the State visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Vietnam from June 19 to 20. The National Assembly Chairman was personally impressed by the successful results of President Putin's recent visit to Vietnam; he still holds good memories with President Putin during the private meeting at the Opera House.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam always considers the Russian Federation one of the top priority partners in its foreign policy, closely monitors the situation and supports Russia's stable development. The Vietnamese people always remember the wholehearted and righteous assistance of the people (of the former Soviet Union) and of the current Russian Federation in the current cause of national liberation and development.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also said that the potential and space of the two countries are still large. Therefore, in the coming time, the National Assembly Chairman suggested that the two sides should regularly exchange delegations at high and all levels, especially to strengthen and promote relations between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian State Duma and the Russian Federation Council, and discuss issues of mutual concern. These include friendship groups of parliamentarians to exchange legislative and supervisory experiences of the two countries' National Assemblies. The National Assembly Chairman also hoped that the Ambassador would continue to effectively implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and Vietnam; and be a bridge between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian State Duma and the Russian Federation Council.

Ambassador Gennady Bezdetko agreed with the assessments of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and said that the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation has continued to develop well in recent times, demonstrated by the two sides maintaining regular exchanges of high-level and all-level delegations, promoting bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy - trade, defense - security, science - technology, education - training, energy, people-to-people exchange, etc.
In particular, the State visit to Vietnam by President Vladimir Putin from June 19-20, 2024 has created momentum to develop Vietnam-Russian Federation cooperation in many fields, contributing to consolidating and developing the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

The Russian Ambassador to Vietnam also said that the inter-parliamentary cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian State Duma continues to promote its role and effectiveness. At the same time, he affirmed that the Ambassador and the Embassy will continue to make efforts to deepen the Vietnam - Russian Federation Comprehensive Strategic Partnership./.
