Reporting at the Conference, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong affirmed that in the 2023-2024 school year, the capital's education sector achieved comprehensive results at all levels and sectors, completing key tasks and contents well. The whole city has 2,913 kindergartens and general schools, an increase of 39 schools compared to the same period last school year.

Students in the capital city ranked first in the country with 184 students winning prizes in the national excellent student competition; many students won prizes in international competitions, especially 2 students won 2 gold medals in the Biology and Chemistry Olympiad, 3 students won prizes in the national science and technology competition, 35 students won national prizes in the student competition with startup ideas...

The results of the high school graduation exam of the City's students this year continued to have a strong change with 99.81% of students graduating, an increase of 0.25% and 5 ranks compared to 2023 (from 16th place to 11th place).

Notably, in the 2023-2024 school year, schools admitted 200 students to the Party, twice as many as in the previous school year. Investment in infrastructure continues to be strengthened. Nearly 80% of public schools in the city meet national standards.

In preparation for the new school year 2024-2025 , schools have safely and effectively organized the enrollment of preschool, grade 1, grade 6 and grade 10, overcoming the limitations and shortcomings in the exam and enrollment work of previous years such as no more queuing to submit application documents; no more drawing lots to enter public schools... The city is also urgently implementing preparations for investment in building advanced and modern inter-level schools with an area of ​​5 hectares or more...

To complete the tasks of the 2024-2025 school year, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh requested the Hanoi Education and Training sector to focus on closely following the direction and guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training, the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee to deploy tasks, best prepare for the new school year; along with developing the scale, continue to have solutions to improve the quality of comprehensive education; step by step build the capital Hanoi to truly be a large, typical center of the whole country in high-quality education and training.

At the same time, it is necessary to actively and proactively advise the City People's Committee on policies and mechanisms in the field of education and training in the direction of ensuring autonomy and self-responsibility; develop a plan to implement the Capital Law, especially specific and outstanding mechanisms and policies on education and training development to create a favorable legal corridor to effectively exploit potentials and advantages, serving the cause of education and training development in the Capital.

Emphasizing the need to ensure health safety for students, especially in Hanoi where the student population is very large and the proportion of students eating at school is high, Chairman Tran Sy Thanh requested the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, leaders of districts, towns, and schools to pay special attention to organizing boarding meals, ensuring that students eat enough, ensuring quality and safety in the new school year 2024-2025.
