On August 6, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh inspected and worked at a number of key projects, including the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro line.
Reporting to the leaders of the City People's Committee, Head of the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board Nguyen Cao Minh said that up to now, the elevated railway section of the Nhon - Hanoi station route (8km from station S1 to station S8) has completed construction, installation, trial operation, acceptance and legal procedures, and is qualified for commercial operation.

On July 30, the contractor operated the tunnel boring machine for the underground section of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro line. To date, the machine has constructed 9.8m of tunnel, 9 rings of tunnel lining have been installed. The second tunnel boring machine is expected to operate on September 30.
According to the plan, the tunnel drilling and erection work will be completed in November 2025. The entire underground part of the project will be completed in December 2027.
According to Mr. Nguyen Cao Minh, this is the first time an urban railway tunnel has been drilled by machine in Hanoi and through a densely populated area, so unpredictable challenges may arise, so timely and urgent response solutions must be available.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh highly appreciated the Ministry of Construction, the State Acceptance Council, the investor and the contractor for actively coordinating to ensure sufficient conditions for operating the elevated section of the project. "This is the expectation of the people of the capital and society," said Mr. Tran Sy Thanh.
From the experience of operating the Cat Linh - Ha Dong elevated railway, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh suggested that relevant units try to commercially operate the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi station metro this August so that people can experience and form new habits and approaches to mass passenger transport.

Regarding the underground part of the project, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee requested relevant districts to be proactive and ready to respond and handle emergency situations (if any).
Mr. Tran Sy Thanh emphasized that the project is an opportunity to access international technology, accumulate practical knowledge for the team of officers and engineers to improve their qualifications and experience to serve the construction of large traffic works in the future.
Previously, the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board said that the State Inspection Council for construction work acceptance had approved the conditional acceptance results and agreed to put the elevated line of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro into commercial operation from August 9.
The Nhon - Hanoi station metro line is 12.5km long, with 8 elevated stations and 4 underground stations; of which, the elevated section (Nhon - Cau Giay) is 8.5km long and the underground section (Cau Giay - Hanoi station) is 4km long.
In 2009, when the project started, Hanoi City planned to commercially exploit this metro line in 2015. At that time, the project had a total investment of 783 million Euros.
By 2014, the project's total investment was adjusted to 1.176 billion Euros.
In May 2023, the project's total investment continued to be adjusted to about 1.3 billion Euros; project implementation period from 2009 - 2027.

Many stations on the Nhon - Hanoi metro line are still messy even though they will be operational in 3 days.

On August 9, the Nhon - Hanoi station metro line will be put into commercial operation after many missed deadlines.
