In October 2021, while studying in his first year at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Hanoi College of High Technology, Nguyen Van Quang saw the school's bulletin board with the slogan: "Every drop of blood given, a life remains", a simple message but with profound humanity, so he volunteered to donate blood.
During his time at school from then until August 2024, Quang participated in 4 more voluntary blood donations; Quang participated in voluntary blood donations twice a year, each time donating from 250 to 350ml of blood. Each time, Quang carefully kept the blood donation certificate, considering it a beautiful memory in his life. Not only did he participate in blood donation many times, Quang also actively promoted and mobilized relatives, family, and friends to participate. Quang's parents and sister have also participated in voluntary blood donations many times.

After graduating with a good degree from Hanoi College of Technology, Quang applied for a job at a mechanical workshop in Hanoi with a stable salary of more than 10 million VND/month. In early 2025, when he received a notice of military service, realizing the sacred duty of a citizen to the Fatherland, and with encouragement from his family, Quang decided to quit his job at the company, wrote a volunteer application to join the army, and worked at Division 363.
Nguyen Van Quang shared: “Every time I donate blood, I am very happy, because I have contributed my blood to save the lives of patients in need of blood. Donating blood is not harmful to health. This is a useful thing for the community and society. Before, when I was in college, I donated blood, now that I have become a soldier of Uncle Ho, I hope to continue to donate blood voluntarily more...”.
Captain Nguyen Duc Tho, Political Commissar of Company 8, said: “Although he has just joined the unit, Nguyen Van Quang has always shown himself to be an exemplary, enthusiastic, and responsible soldier; always strictly abides by the unit's regulations and military discipline; has a spirit of solidarity, helps comrades and teammates, and is ready to receive and complete all assigned tasks. In particular, Quang has high mechanical skills, has contributed a lot to the renovation, construction of the unit's landscape and environment, and has strengthened the model and material for training. Quang's meaningful work has been promptly commended by the unit's Party Committee and commander in the unit's activities and encouraged for officers and soldiers, especially new soldiers, to learn and follow suit.”
