On August 9, Mr. Ngo Duc Nam, Director of Thanh Hoa City Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that Thanh Hoa City People's Committee is inventorying and clearing land to implement the North-South railway overpass project and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge.

The North-South railway overpass project has a total investment of nearly 650 billion VND from the state budget and other legally mobilized sources, with Thanh Hoa City People's Committee as the investor.

Thanh Hoa City Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the project has 16 packages. Of which, package 16 is for construction of the project (bridge, access roads at both ends of the bridge and construction insurance) with a value of 485 billion VND.

The joint venture of Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company - Minh Tuan Construction Investment Joint Stock Company is the contractor for this project.

According to the design, the bridge is built permanently with reinforced concrete, with a cable-stayed system. The bridge surface is 25m wide, including 4 motor lanes and 2 mixed lanes.

Mr. Nam said that the project's goal is to ensure traffic safety on the North-South railway and to invest in the complete and synchronous East-West Highway according to the plan to enhance traffic connectivity in the area; connecting with the main urban axis, Rung Thong town to form a connecting road from National Highway 45 to National Highway 1.

According to actual surveys, the intersection between Trinh Kiem Street and East-West Highway, Nguyen Trai Street is often congested during rush hour because it is near Thanh Hoa station, has a railway line passing through while the daily traffic volume is large.

Therefore, the construction of the railway overpass will contribute to ensuring traffic safety and reducing congestion on the route at the above intersection. The project is expected to be completed in July 2025.
