In August, at the construction site of the North-South Expressway through Ha Tinh, hundreds of officers, engineers, and workers from project implementing units were still working hard to ensure progress.

At the construction site of the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway section, one of 12 component projects of the North - South expressway in the East, phase 2021-2025, contractors are laying C25 and C19 hollow asphalt concrete layers. This section is 54.2km long with a total investment of more than VND9,700 billion, passing through Thach Ha, Cam Xuyen and Ky Anh districts of Ha Tinh province.

According to the Thang Long Project Management Board (Ministry of Transport - project investor), this section has reached nearly 50% of the volume, some units have exceeded the expected progress to compensate for the upcoming rainy season.

Mr. Tran An Thuyen - Deputy Commander of Joint Stock Company 471 said that the unit is joining forces with contractors to implement the 11XL package of the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway section. "The weather is favorable, so the unit is focusing on machinery and human resources to urgently construct the bridge and asphalt concrete pavement items to ensure progress before the rainy season. In the rainy season, the embankment items, the access roads, and the installation of median strips can be completed," said Mr. Thuyen.

At some locations through Cam Xuyen, Thach Ha and Ky Anh districts of the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway project, the 110kV, 220kV and 500kV power lines are being obstructed. In the picture is a location of a power line running across the expressway through Cam Thach commune (Cam Xuyen district).

The construction unit was forced to temporarily fill the ground and "jump-frog" construction over the uncleared areas.

According to the investor representative, the minimum safe height of the power line from the ground is 17m. However, when the construction is carried out, the remaining distance is 15-16m. Therefore, the machinery during the construction process will get caught in the power line and be electrocuted, so they have to choose a construction method that avoids these locations to ensure safety and keep up with the schedule.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Thuc - Commander of Tu Lap Joint Stock Company said that the construction unit is from Km517+600- 521+500. "Compared to the overall progress of the whole project, the unit is ahead by about 20% and will complete the asphalt concrete paving before the rainy season. For the locations that are being monitored for subsidence, the construction will be carried out soon. For the locations that are entangled with the power grid lines, the contractor has discussed many times with the investor and the locality to soon hand over and construct the project," said Mr. Thuc.

To ensure the handover schedule in April 2025, each unit implementing the bidding packages is accelerating and preparing enough human resources and machinery for the project construction process.
