"The diverse and rich English extracurricular activities create a positive English learning environment for students. If teachers apply creative, interactive and hands-on teaching methods, students will have the opportunity to develop their ability to use English in real-life situations.

Sharing about solutions to improve students' English communication, according to Ms. Mai Khanh, first, it is necessary to improve the quality of teachers by training and fostering English teachers in teaching methods and techniques, being creative in teaching methods, taking students as the center, encouraging students to communicate and use English in practice.

In particular, it is necessary to use technology to support learning, such as encouraging students to use online English learning tools, grammar and vocabulary learning software, and foreign language learning applications to practice anytime, anywhere.

Organize online lessons with native teachers so that students can be exposed to the intonation and communication style of native speakers. Pay attention to support policies, timely reward teachers and students with achievements, and evaluate and adjust English teaching programs to suit each region as well as students.

As a freelance English teacher for many years, Ms. Vu Hoai Phuong (HCMC) shared from practical experience that in order for students to acquire English well, she has built her own curriculum suitable for each group of students; ensuring that she not only teaches grammar and vocabulary but also focuses on listening, speaking, reading, writing and real-life communication skills with foreigners. 4 solutions to make English a second language in schools

To make English the second language in schools, Dr. Dam Quang Minh, Deputy General Director of Equest Group, proposed 4 solutions:

Firstly, it is necessary to complete the legal corridor with clearer and more specific regulations on the implementation of English training programs, especially bilingual programs.

Second, there needs to be systematic and synchronous investment in teacher training, improving the quality of programs, teaching materials and facilities.

Third, it is necessary to encourage the application of technology platforms in teaching and learning English, especially in remote areas.

Finally, it is necessary to strengthen public-private cooperation, promote sharing of experiences and effective English training models between public and private schools.

"We can also combine two major lessons from Singapore and India : Learning from Singapore's national English programs, and learning from India's use of technology to develop remote, isolated, and disadvantaged areas. When we improve English in all areas, the entire system will benefit from that foundation," said Dr. Dam Quang Minh.

The draft national project "Gradually introducing English as a second language in schools" stipulates that there are 6 levels of schools implementing English as a second language in Vietnam with the common goal of English being widely and regularly used in communication, study, research, and work, to gradually become the second language in schools. Improving English proficiency to meet the needs of study and work, enhancing the competitiveness of human resources in the new era, contributing to the development and advancement of the country.

Specific goals, for preschool education , by 2035, strive for 100% of preschool education facilities to be qualified and implement English as a second language for preschool children; implement the English as a second language program for 100% of preschool children (from 3 to 5 years old). By 2045, strive to implement the English as a second language program for 100% of preschool children (nursery children and kindergarten children).

For general education , by 2035, strive for 100% of general education students to study English as a second language (from grade 1 to grade 12) and implement English as a second language programs at Level 1, Level 2, Level 3. By 2045, strive for 100% of general schools to implement English as a second language programs at Level 4, Level 5, Level 6.

At university level, strive for 100% of universities to implement English as a second language at Level 4, Level 5, Level 6.

Vocational education , strive for 100% of vocational education institutions to implement English as a second language program, 100% of vocational education institutions to implement English with career orientation, 50% of vocational education institutions to implement part of other subjects and/or some other subjects in English.

Continuing education , by 2030, strive to complete the development of English teaching and learning programs, teaching and learning in English in continuing education to basically meet the diverse needs of society.
